Job Description:

As a mission-driven school, faculty members play a central role in fulfilling our mission. Hired by and subject to the supervision of the Directors of the Lower School, the Motor Lab Coordinator is an exempt position. In a formational and relational role, the Motor Lab Coordinator models Christ-like behavior within The Geneva School community while designing, implementing, and overseeing a structured motor lab program that supports the whole child—body, mind, and spirit—within a Christian educational environment.

The Motor Lab Coordinator partners with teachers and administrators to support students' neuro-motor development, sensory regulation, and academic readiness through purposeful movement experiences grounded in best practices and aligned with Geneva's mission.

Essential Duties

Specific Job Responsibilities

• Design and implement structured Motor Lab sessions that support neuro-motor development, sensory regulation, and academic readiness for Lower School students using the Ready Bodies, Learning Minds curriculum
• Develop and maintain age-appropriate motor lab activities that target five core skill areas: proprioceptive, fine motor, gross motor, visual motor, and motor planning
• Facilitate motor lab sessions as structured circuits or obstacle courses using specialized equipment such as bean bags, scooter boards, balance tools, crawling activities, and other purposeful movement materials
• Schedule and conduct 20–30 minute motor lab sessions that allow students to reset their brains and bodies for optimal learning
• Assess skills and collaborate with classroom teachers, learning specialists, and administrators to support student needs and integrate motor lab goals with classroom learning
• Observe students' motor and sensory engagement and communicate relevant insights to teachers and administrators while maintaining appropriate boundaries and confidentiality
• Ensure a safe, nurturing, and well-organized motor lab environment that reflects Christian care for each child
• Maintain motor lab equipment, supplies, and space, practicing good stewardship of school resources
• Support and model self-regulation, focus, perseverance, and respectful behavior for students
• Serve as a positive role model within the Geneva community for Christian classical education and whole-child development
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all information related to students, parents, faculty, and staff
• Assist with additional duties or school responsibilities as assigned by Lower School administration

Personal Profile

Required Skills and Experience:

• Hold at least a bachelor's degree in education, kinesiology, child development, occupational therapy–related fields, or a related area (or equivalent experience)
• Experience working with elementary-aged children in educational, therapeutic, or movement-based settings
• Familiarity with sensory integration principles, motor development, or structured movement programs (such as Ready Bodies, Learning Minds, or similar approaches) preferred
• Fundamental understanding of and support for the Christian and classical approach to education practiced at The Geneva School
