MUSIC DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTIONFBC Ashdown
The Music Director leads the congregation in Christ-centered, biblically grounded, and Spirit-led worship that supports the mission of FBC Ashdown. This person works with the Senior Pastor to plan worship services and oversee the administrative, creative, and operational needs of the worship ministry.
The Music Director also recruits, develops, and cares for worship leaders, musicians, and production volunteers while promoting spiritual growth, musical excellence, and theological integrity in each service.
Primary Responsibilities (Worship Leading)

Plan and lead weekly worship services that are biblically sound, spiritually engaging, and aligned with the church’s mission.

Work with the Senior Pastor to coordinate worship with sermon themes and include prayer and Scripture as appropriate.

Select music that is theologically sound, congregationally accessible, and appropriate for the church.

Lead worship vocally and/or instrumentally, encouraging strong congregational participation.
Team Development and Ministry Oversight

Recruit, train, schedule, and disciple musicians, vocalists, and audio/visual team members.

Lead rehearsals and ensure teams are prepared for services and special events.

Provide spiritual encouragement and support to worship ministry volunteers.

Ensure music, lyrics, and media are theologically accurate and properly licensed.

Coordinate with audio and video teams to support worship services.

Manage the worship ministry budget and resources with integrity.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
Spiritual Qualifications
-
A mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Agreement with the church’s statement of faith.

Membership in good standing with the church, or willingness to pursue membership if required.

A heart for worship and a desire to lead others in honoring God.
Professional Qualifications
-
Experience leading worship in a church setting is preferred.

Strong vocal and/or instrumental ability.

Demonstrated leadership in working with teams and volunteers.
-
Familiarity with both contemporary and traditional worship styles.

Commitment to musical excellence, spiritual leadership, and teamwork.
