Our church of approximately 70 members is seeking a spiritually mature, part-time paid music director to plan and lead Christ-centered, biblically sound, and engaging worship music for God's glory and the congregation's edification.
Job Summary: The music director's role involves coordinating singers and musicians, selecting songs, and fostering a worshipful environment that encourages congregational participation. It requires piano playing on all music each Sunday. The Rodgers organ may be used for the final hymn or as desired (no pedal work needed). The expected hours on Sundays are from 9:00–11:30am with the worship service commencing at 10am. The director will work closely with the pastor/teaching elder and will be expected to become an active participant of the Harrison Presbyterian Church, engaging with congregants and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the 10am Sunday service plus 4-5 special services such as Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter
- Plan and lead music for weekly worship services, selecting a mix of contemporary and traditional songs that align with the sermon
- Facilitate rehearsals before Sunday service to prepare the praise band, choir and musicians
- Lead mid-week choir practice (one week night – 1 ½ hours)
- Continually grow stronger in personal faith, have a heart for worship, and a desire to live a life that reflects the gospel both inside and outside the church
Compensation is per diem, commensurate with experience.
