Summary of Position
The Campus Music Director (MD) assists the Campus Worship Leader in leading and executing worship gatherings at the campus level, with a focus on musical excellence, band leadership, and alignment with the unified services across the whole church. Under the direction of Campus Worship Leader and Central Worship Staff, the MD supports consistent, high-quality worship experiences that support The Summit Church's mission to make disciple-making disciples. This role emphasizes freeing the Campus Worship Leader to focus on spiritual and vocal leadership by leading the musical and technical aspects of band preparation and execution.
Qualifications and Requirements
- A commitment to servant leadership (Mk. 10:45; Col. 3:23-24).
- A commitment to the biblical priority of congregational singing (Eph. 5:18-19; Col. 3:16).
- Administrative proficiency.
- A proven proficiency in music theory, Nashville Number System, and musicianship.
- Mastery of at least one instrument and general knowledge of the fundamentals of other instruments.
- An ability to coach and lead band rehearsals and other band members.
- A humble, collaborative, and teachable spirit that seeks to partner with worship leaders.

Music Director Responsibilities
- Coordination and Communication (1-2 hours per week)
- Coordinate weekly with the Campus Worship Leader and/or campus teams to ensure seamless preparation and implementation for weekend services.
- Coordinate monthly and weekly with the Central Music Director to align campus services, arrangements, and resources with central worship plans.
- Worship Preparation and Execution (6-8 hours per weekend, 40 weekends per year)Implement setlists alongside the worship leader.
- Prepare playback, click tracks, and chartbuilder app for services, aligning with provided notes and resources.
- Direct band rehearsals to achieve musical excellence, preparedness, and seamless transitions during services.
- Lead the musical elements during services under the direction of the Campus Worship Leader and Central Music Director.
- Troubleshoot musical or technical issues in real-time to ensure smooth service execution.
- Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and training volunteer musicians in coordination with the Campus Worship Leader.
- Coaching and Development (1-2 hours per week)Mentor band members on musical skills, providing discipleship and care to foster growth and prevent burnout, aligning with Summit's disciple-making culture.
- Regularly assess worship team health, offering constructive feedback to enhance quality, cohesion, and alignment with Summit's worship identity.
- Partner with the central worship team to maintain a consistent worship culture across all locations.
- Churchwide Events (2 events per year)
- Mandatory Events: Serve at two key churchwide events and services for Christmas and Easter, including preparation, rehearsals, and all services across the holiday week or weekend.
- Voluntary Events: Participation in other churchwide events, such as Good Friday service, church-wide prayer meetings, or special events like Prayer Nights, is voluntary.
This role is approximately 10-12 hours per week, focused on 40 weekends per year, inclusive of preparation and execution for regular services and mandatory churchwide events (Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday)
