Job Overview
The Music & Discipleship Pastor is a key leadership role at Gospel Life Church responsible for overseeing two or more major ministries at the church. For this position, one ministry will be our music ministry and audio-visuals team. The second ministry will be determined based on the individual's passions, skills, and church needs and most likely would be either Family Ministry or our Groups Ministry. The ideal candidate is a gifted worship leader who is also passionate about discipleship, spiritually mature, and able to teach the Word of God to others. We are seeking a full-time, salaried employee.
Job Description
Music Leadership
- Plan, lead, and oversee the worship services, including song selection, set lists, and team coordination
- Work with the Staff in planning service flow for each week, as well as ensuring that the music program supports the sermon series and church vision
- Recruit, train, and pastor volunteer musicians, vocalists, and members of the AV team
- Maintain a high quality and theologically sound music program
- Manage worship budget, equipment, and technology needs
- Occasionally lead or support special services (e.g. holidays, funerals, etc.)
General Pastoral Duties
- Serve as an elder on GLC's leadership team
- Regularly teach in the Groups Ministry or Children's Ministry and Youth Group, and assist with preaching as needed
- Provide pastoral counseling and shepherding
- Attend staff meetings and elder meetings, and contribute to overall church strategy and vision
- Basic proficiency with church management software, email, and common software applications
And one of the following:
Oversee Family Ministry
- Provide visionary leadership for all family ministry (Nursery, Children's Ministry, Youth Ministry, Marriage & Family Ministry)
- Oversee the Children Ministry Coordinator(s)
- Oversee curriculum selection, volunteer recruitment, and retention for family ministry teams
- Provide pastoral care, counseling, and discipleship for families, couples, and children/students as needed
- Oversee the Youth Ministry
- Ensure child/student safety policies and best practices are followed
OR
Oversee the Groups Ministry
- Work with the Senior Pastor to provide visionary leadership for the Groups Ministry
- Recruit & train group leaders for the Groups Ministry
- Plan and organize the Groups Ministry
- Lead a Group (minimum 2x a year)
- Provide pastoral care, counseling, and discipleship as needed
- Ensure Gospel Life Church's policies are practiced in the Groups Ministry
Qualifications
Required
- Strong personal faith in Jesus Christ with a clear sense of calling to ministry
- Demonstrated musical ability–proficient as a singer and instrumentalist
- Prior experience with leading music in a church setting
- Passionate about discipleship and seeing others grow in Christ
- Experience in leading and developing volunteers
- Ability to teach the Word of God to others
- Must align with Gospel Life Church's Statement of Faith and philosophy of ministry
- Theological Training and/or Ministry Training
Preferred
- Master of Divinity Degree
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
