Job Description
Founded in 1799, Eden Baptist Church is a bible believing congregation with a desire to serve our Lord, Jesus Christ. Located in Salisbury cove, a charming coastal village located on Mount Desert Island, Maine just minutes from downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.
A melodic chiming bell invites those to worship at the 9am Sunday service, followed by a welcoming traditional hymn prelude from the church pianist. Tall beautiful timeless stained glass windows create a luminous backdrop for the pulpit that overlooks historic wooden pews. For those unable to attend in person we invite to watch live stream on Facebook, an option we implemented during covid.
Our Sunday services are a time for all to come together to know and worship our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Through times of prayer, scripture readings, collectively singing traditional as well as modern hymns and earnestly listening to our leader's sermon we praise the Lord. We average 30 attendees in the winter months, 40 in the summer months and have over 50 members.
Throughout the year we have fellowship in brunches and summer time refreshments following service allowing us to meet our seasonal guests. We hold luncheons and fairs filled with homemade foods and crafts for sale to support our local missions.
We believe a responsible church is a good steward of people, time and money, properly managing God's blessings. We are seeking a pastor whom will inspire our church with faithful Christ like leadership, following scripture qualifications [1 Timothy 3:1-7]. Keeping the sermons intentional and educational by being gospel centered in an expository manner and topically when relevant. Coordinating with members to create a weekly slideshow for our monitors ensures attendees clarity in person as well as online. Sending weekly emails to keep us well informed of upcoming sermons and news as well as prayer requests.
The pastoral position would be bi-vocational in nature or best suited for a retired pastor as we are small yet mighty church. We have been blessed to have the means to upkeep our church and parish hall through the years and give to local missions. It is our churches strategy and mission to continue proclaiming the gospel, making disciples, worshiping God and serving our community.
