We are seeking a seasoned pastor to join our pastoral team as Pastor for Mentoring. This man will carry the baton of raising up future pastors and church-planting teams. The mission is to mentor those preparing for ministry and to help prepare Lakewood to multiply through future church plants.

Job Description

Due to the size and budget of our congregation, the Pastor for Mentoring will use roughly fifty percent of his time to minister generally as a pastor of Lakewood, complementing our existing team and meeting existing ministry needs according to his specific giftedness. Opportunities may include evangelism, discipleship, teaching, counseling, family ministry, or administration.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:

• Meet biblical character qualifications per the Pastoral Epistles.
• Have ministry expertise, ideally pastoring in a healthy church context.
• Hold at least a Master of Divinity Degree.
• Fully affirm and be able to sign Lakewood's Confession of Faith.
• Be willing to relocate to the greater Milwaukee area and invest long-term in the life of the church and community.

Key Responsibilities

Some of the primary responsibilities will include:

1. 1. Mentoring Future Pastors — Establish a pastoral residency program in which men who evidence pastoral giftedness may pursue a seminary-level education, while receiving mentoring and ministry experience. He will oversee residents, aiming to develop their character, helping them hone their skills for ministry, and preparing them to serve on church-planting teams in various roles.
   2. Missional Creativity — Develop and execute a plan to lead Lakewood in reaching the greater Milwaukee area through church-planting, church revitalization, pastoral training, and creative collaboration.

• General Pastoral Ministry — Work with the lead pastor to identify another area of pastoral oversight in which to serve.
