PASTOR – FULL TIME POSITION
DESCRIPTION
The Pastor of Godwin Heights Baptist Church shall be a person of faith who has experienced a call by God to the ministry. The Pastor shall oversee the welfare of the Church and shall have oversight of, and be the resource for, all departments, committees and areas of ministry. This role is critical to the health and success of Godwin Heights Baptist Church.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Minister to the spiritual needs of the members of the Church and community.
- Conduct religious services on stated and special occasions.
- Coordinate with Ministry staff in the planning of meaningful expressions of corporate worship.
- Administer the ordinances.
- Engage in community activities and maintain/encourage contact with prospective individuals and families.
- Supervise the Ministry and Office Staff and, in consultation with the Personnel Committee, conduct annual evaluations.
- Have special charge of the pulpit ministry of the Church and, through prayer and study, render effective preaching and pastoral ministries.
GENERAL
- Serve as an Ex-officio member of all organizations, departments, and committees.
- Maintain professional competence in ministry and leadership through continuing education.
- Conduct weekly staff meetings.
- Perform other duties that usually pertain to the office.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Individual should knowledge personal call to ministry.
- Master of Divinity, or higher degree, from an accredited seminary of divinity preferred.
- Demonstrated ability and experience in leading a church.
- Strong verbal, written, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.
