We are a fellowship of believers who have voluntarily banded together for worship, growth, service, and mission. We have Christ as our head and the Bible as our sole source of authority. The government of this church is vested in the body of believers who compose its membership. As a congregation, we act in the light of Scriptures under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. We are an autonomous body of believers that are not under the control of any other ecclesiastical body. We have associated ourselves nationally with the Southern Baptist Convention, regionally with the Northwest Baptist Convention, & locally with the Interstate Baptist Association.
We are prayerfully seeking the man God has called to fill the position of full-time Pastor.
Purpose: The Pastor is the under-shepherd of the church, and is responsible to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach Biblical scripture, to engage in pastoral care, and to provide administrative leadership in all areas of church life and function. He should be able to lead collaboratively with the deacons and the church staff to provide opportunities for HBBC members & guests to worship, be discipled toward growth in their walk of faith, and to impact their communities with gospel centered lives. Candidates are expected to stand firm for the sanctity of human life, the sacredness of marriage between one man and one woman, and the fundamental freedom to express our faith in the public arena.
Qualifications:
• Possess Biblical qualifications as stated in I Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
• Support and practice the statements of faith as outlined in the Baptist Faith and Message (version 2008).
• Ordained Southern Baptist Minister or prepared to become ordained.
• A degree from an accredited Southern Baptist Seminary (preferred).
• Be an active member in good standing of a Southern Baptist Church (preferred).
• Previous pastoral experience (preferred).
• Experience in managing staff (primary supervisor and administrator of the church staff). (Preferred)
Key Responsibilities:
· Present well-organized, Bible-based sermons and lessons on Sunday, Wednesday and other meeting times decided by the church body that edify, challenge, and encourage the church as well as promote the passionate worship of God.
· Administer the ordinances of the church (Baptism and Communion) on a regular and as needed basis.
· Maintain church office hours for the benefit of all church members/non-members and the related business of the church.
· Lead in areas of discipleship development, new member orientation, ministry counseling, pastoral care, prayer focus and other efforts of spiritual development as needed.
· Recruit, teach, train, spiritually support and effectively supervise volunteers for small adult groups and adult ministries within the church.
· Assist in the development and organizational structures of the Sunday School Program. Recruitment and training of teachers, monitoring of individual and group development and outreach programs for each class.
· Assist in the development of senior adults and their spiritual needs, growth and encouragement in dealing with issues specifically related to senior adults.
· Shepherd Children and Youth to biblically sound discipleship for families. Help volunteers in this area when needed.
· Provide guidance and oversight to the deacons, all church committees, and organizations as a non-voting ex officio member in the development and implementation of programs of ministry and mission.
· Meet weekly with staff members to ensure a strong working relationship and mutual support through open communication and dialogue.
