Pastor of Youth and Young Adult Ministries
Job Description:
The Pastor of Youth and Young Adult Ministries at FBC Cornelia is a part-time position that provides pastoral leadership for developing and leading an integrated disciple-building ministry for middle and high school students and young adults (including college and career young adults).
Supervision:
This position reports directly to the Senior Pastor and the Youth Committee.
Character:
The Youth and Young Adult Pastor must have an active and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and uphold and live out Biblical principles and core values both in their personal life and in their professional life. This individual should feel called to ministry and love the local church, be willing to lead and be led (humble, teachable), and be a team player and team-builder. Ultimately, this individual should be passionate about ministry and the spiritual development of young people.
Qualifications:
Candidates for this position must have made a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.College degree: Seminary, preferred Experience working in youth ministryDemonstrated ability to teach, lead, and connect with adolescents and their parents.Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsSelf-motivatedEnergetic
Responsibilities:
The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Be an advocate for youth and young adults, and educate the congregation about the hopes, concerns, and needs of youth and young adults in our church and community.Select a curriculum for youth studies, along with the Youth Committee. Work in partnership with the Youth Committee and volunteers to lead small groups and plan and participate in special events (e.g., retreats, camps).Seek to provide a balanced program of Bible instruction, worship, fellowship, discipleship, and missional opportunities for youth.Be available to encourage, challenge, and counsel the youth, their parents, and young adults in living as followers of Jesus (e.g., lunch at school, after-school visits, attendance at extracurricular activities, home visitations, and support during times of crisis).Work in partnership with schools in the area to effectively reach youth in the community and develop a strategic ministry outreach plan.Develop and implement a plan to engage young adults on a weekday, Sunday morning, or other small group time.Support Young Adult ministry volunteers when selecting curriculum. Communicate on social media platforms with youth, their parents, and young adults about ministry opportunities. Collaborate with office staff to relay ministry information through church newsletters, websites, flyers, and brochures.Work within an approved budget.Perform other duties assigned by the Senior PastorKeep office hours to accomplish the administrative duties required for the above responsibilities.
