Our congregation is a Christ-centered, Bible-teaching community that values strong relationships, vibrant worship, intergenerational fellowship, and active ministry to families, children, and youth. Position Summary

The Pastor will serve as the primary spiritual shepherd of the congregation—preaching and teaching God's Word, providing pastoral care, equipping the church for discipleship and outreach, and leading with humility, compassion, and vision. The pastor will nurture a biblically grounded and mission-minded culture while helping our church grow in unity and faithfulness.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Preaching & Teaching
  • Provide strong biblical preaching and teaching, rooted in Scripture and applicable to daily life.
  • Prepare and deliver Sunday sermons, seasonal messages, and teaching series that deepen spiritual understanding and discipleship.
  • Maintain commitment to theological development, biblical study, and spiritual maturity.
  • Lead youth through confirmation classes.
  1. Shepherding & Pastoral Care
  • Serve as a compassionate and caring shepherd to the congregation.
  • Conduct hospital, nursing home, and home visits.
  • Administer baptisms, weddings, funerals, and other pastorally-significant services.
  • Provide spiritual counsel, prayer support, crisis care, and guidance rooted in grace and truth.
  • Maintain confidentiality, emotional maturity, and sensitivity in all interactions.
  1. Leadership & Ministry Development
  • Demonstrate skilled leadership and organization
  • Collaborate with staff, consistory, ministry leaders, and volunteers to support healthy ministry structures.
  • Lead with humility, approachability, and a team-oriented mindset
  • Encourage and equip members to use their gifts in service, leadership, and discipleship.
  1. Discipleship & Spiritual Formation
  • Prioritize strengthening faith and discipleship.
  • Support and expand prayer opportunities, Bible studies, small groups, and mentoring relationships.
  • Teach and model the integration of faith into everyday life.
  1. Children, Youth & Family Ministry Partnership
  • Actively support and engage in youth and children's ministries.
  • Partner with leaders to grow a strong, spiritually nurturing program for children, teens, parents, and young families.
  • Connect relationally with younger generations.
  1. Worship Leadership
  • Work collaboratively with staff, consistory, ministry leaders, and volunteers to cultivate meaningful, Christ-centered worship experiences.
  • Provide effective planning and leadership for services.
  1. Outreach & Community Presence
  • Support the church's desire to reach new people in the community
  • Encourage congregational participation in mission, service, youth outreach, and community care.
  • Model a lifestyle of evangelism, compassion, and service.
  1. Unity, Healing & Healthy Communication
  • Guide the congregation through ongoing transition with wisdom, patience, and clarity.
  • Prioritize communication that builds unity and trust.
  • Maintain a non-political, Scripture-focused presence in the pulpit.

  • Experience working with children, youth, and families.
  • Ability to encourage spiritual growth and discipleship across generations.
  • Skill in organization, administration, and team leadership.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, manage conflict well, and shepherd with grace.

Education & Experience

  • Formal theological education preferred, but not mandatory if calling and gifting are clear.

Peace Church is a Christ‑centered, Bible‑teaching congregation rooted in 150 years of faith and community in the village of Potter. We are a small, close‑knit church family that values traditional worship, genuine fellowship, and service to our neighbors. Our congregation includes multiple generations who worship together, support one another, and take joy in the simple, steady rhythms of small‑town church life.

We gather for worship each Sunday at 9:00 a.m., offer Sunday School for children during the school year, and host a variety of family‑focused events, youth activities, and community outreach opportunities. With a strong sense of heritage and a hopeful vision for the future, Peace Church is seeking a pastor who will walk with us, teach faithfully, and help us continue to grow in Christ.
