Pope Baptist Church in Pope, MS is prayerfully seeking its next full-time pastor. The church was founded in 1872 and is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention. As such, we abide by the Baptist Faith & Message and believe that the Bible is the inerrant, infallible, inspired Word of God. Our church offers a traditional Sunday morning worship service, Wednesday evening services, and an occasional special service on Sunday nights. Ministries range from nursery to adult, and we employ a part-time youth minister. We also employ a music director to oversee a full choir, organist, and paid pianist. The church is mission-minded and supports local, national and international mission projects. We seek a leader to guide and teach our members by God's Word and to work with our various departments to strengthen them and engage our members to greater service. While not required, the church prefers formal training in Christian ministry. Pope Baptist has modern, up-to-date facilities with no current debt. Sunday School averages between 70 and 80 each week. While the church does not have a parsonage, we provide a housing allowance as part of our salary package; the remaining package will be based on experience. Pope is conveniently located just off Interstate 55, seven miles south of Batesville and one hour south of Memphis' international airport. Pope School (K-8) is a part of the South Panola School District and is commonly regarded as the best school in the county.
