Are you a spiritual leader with a passion for reinvigorating a congregation and fostering deep community connections? Salem Church of Rough & Ready in Klingerstown, PA, is seeking a dedicated and visionary Pastor to serve as our spiritual shepherd and primary leader. We are looking for a collaborative individual who will nurture our church community in alignment with the Reformed tradition and help us grow in faith and numbers.

Located in Schuylkill County, PA, Salem Church of Rough & Ready is a long-standing, independent bible church committed to fulfilling the Great Commission through discipleship, worship, and active engagement in both the spiritual and civic life of our rural community. An elder-led polity, we are seeking a Pastor who has a heart for both our existing congregation and the surrounding community.
Key Responsibilities and Objectives
The Pastor will collaborate with elders and deacons to equip members for ministry and foster a deep, personal relationship with Christ through faithful, expositional preaching of the Bible. We seek leadership to assist us in developing a strategic plan to grow attendance at worship services and group studies and deepen the congregation's biblical and theological knowledge and faith.

- Indicators of Success: A demonstrable track record of growing attendance in a faith-based function; intentional in developing a vision and 3-5 year plan with stakeholder input; prescribes a path forward with clarity and precision and secures buy-in; an effective delegator, empowering congregants to take ownership of church activities; repeatedly references simple, easy-to-understand tenets of the plan.

Discipleship & Teaching: You are a masterful and engaging teacher with a robust command of scripture, theology, and the ability to make complex topics accessible.
- Indicators of Success: Deep knowledge of the Bible, with a working knowledge of biblical languages and a strong grasp of historical context; demonstrates a lively, humorous, yet rigorous teaching style; gifted at correcting theological misunderstandings with patience and precision; develops and implements age-appropriate curricula.

Community Builder & Pastoral Care: You are an outgoing and intentional relationship-builder who fosters a welcoming and connected church community.
- Indicators of Success: Proactively welcomes new visitors and implements a clear standard operating procedure for guest follow-up and integration; routinely visits with congregants, with a special focus on the home-bound or those in care facilities; actively builds a network with other local church leaders and community organizations; coordinates between congregants and external groups for joint initiatives.
Experience/Skills
- Preaching and Teaching: Strong preaching, teaching, and public speaking skills with a commitment to expository preaching.
- Pastoral Care and Shepherding: Ability to pursue deep, relational connections with members, provide compassionate counseling, and officiate church ceremonies.
- Community Engagement and Outreach: Active and visible presence in the wider rural community to build relationships and lead outreach initiatives.
- Church Leadership and Administration: Minimum of 5-7 years of church leadership experience, either as a Pastor or board member. Excellent interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, and administrative abilities, including financial acumen.
- Personal and Professional Development: Committed Bible study, prayer, continuing education, and a healthy work-life rhythm.
Qualifications
- Meets the biblical qualifications of an elder as outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
- A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
- Valid ordination or licensure for pastoral ministry within a recognized Reformed denomination.
- Strong theological knowledge with a deep passion for understanding and teaching God's Word.
- A servant-leader who displays humility, integrity, and love for God and people.
