Pastor/Teaching Elder: To provide spiritual and pastoral leadership to the congregation of the First Presbyterian Church of Mora and oversee the day-to-day operations of the church in conjunction with the Session, facilitating the fulfillment of the church's mission and fostering community and spiritual growth amongst its members and the community at large.

Qualifications: First Presbyterian is looking for someone with a deep and personal faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to Christian values and ethics, with a Master of Divinity from an accredited theological institution. The individual should be ordained (or ordainable) in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. We pray for someone with strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills, who is approachable and accessible, with leadership experience, preferably within a church setting.

The position is for full-time, but First Presbyterian will consider part-time.

Job Description

Primary responsibilities would be:

To preach and teach the Gospel according to the Bible. Plan and lead worship services and administer the sacraments. Provide spiritual guidance to the congregation through worship, Bible studies, and classes. Offer pastoral care through visitations, counseling, weddings, funerals, baptisms, and Confirmation. Moderate the Session and, with the elders, be responsible for the oversight of all ministries in the church. Give direction and support to ministry teams. Oversee church administration in conjunction with the Session, as prescribed by the Book of Order.

Shepherd the flock in leading by example and modeling Christian values and behavior. Foster community unity with the congregation and the community at large. Equip and empower church leaders and volunteers to fulfill their roles effectively, utilizing their gifts, talents, and abilities for the glory of God. Embody a compassionate, generous and giving spirit, with a warm and welcoming personality enhanced with a sense of humor. Demonstrate a strong belief in the gospel of Grace.
