Description of Organization
Our church was first established in 1733 as the first church in Pembroke, NH. Being the only church in the beginning of its history it was a combination of denominational backgrounds from the start. It has always been Bible based and scripturally led by the Holy Spirit. Our worship is in the traditional style; our Hook and Hastings pipe organ adds a vital part to the worship services. We do have praise services that are spread throughout the year. Worship includes an open prayer request time, choir anthem, hymns and a sermon. Our hymns and sermons are enhanced by the use of a projection screen showing scriptures and the text of the hymns for the congregation. Sermons are based on scripture, with a combination of expository and topical illustrations. They are enlightening and instructive in a nurturing and uplifting manner.
The work of the church is accomplished by the pastor and the Leadership Team collaborating closely at monthly meetings. The Leadership Team consists of three components: The Administration Team, the Diaconate and the Trustees. They assist the clergy in evaluating the current sense of calling to identify and strengthen the ministries existing strengths as we as address any weaknesses. We are growing, recovering from Covid downsizing, we were for a time associated loosely with the United Church of Christ but voted to leave because our church was growing more spiritually and less focused on the outside influences of the world around us. Our goal would be as our mission statement states: "To Know God and to Make Him Known" - to know God by growing in our learning about Him through His Word so our faith continues to blossom finding new and more efficient ways to reach out to our community and beyond, making Him known to others. We prioritize welcoming and showing Jesus' message to all.
