Qualifications:
In the selection of a Pastor the Church shall be guided by the scriptural qualifications found in 1Timothy 3:1-7.
The Pastor should serve as a spiritual leader of the Church under the guidance of the Holy Spirit to lead members and guests to a deeper relationship with God.
It is preferred, but not required, that the Pastor be a graduate of a Baptist School with pastoral training. His credentials would include a license to preach and an ordination certificate.
The Pastor shall be supportive of the Southern Baptist Convention, Georgia Baptist Convention, and the Association. His commitment to these entities will be expected as long as they adhere to the inerrancy of the Scriptures.
Duties of the Pastor: The Pastor Shall:
Faithfully teach and preach God's Word, fill the pulpit at worship services and prayer meetings. Organize and serve the Lord's Supper and perform baptisms.
Assist the deacons and the Church family in visiting guests, new members, new residents of the community, and especially those who are bereaved and sick.
Serve as an ex-officio member of all committees and organizations within the Church, attending meetings as he deems necessary.
Serve on the benevolence committee.
Select speakers for revival, guest and pulpit supply that preach the word of God as outlined in the Church Constitution.
Support the biblical definition of marriage as adopted by this Church; therefore, he will not take part in any events, particularly wedding ceremonies, that are in opposition to our biblical beliefs.
Other duties as the Deacon Board and the Church agree may arise.
