Job Overview
This position is designed for a man with initiative who will model servant leadership to our local church. The Pastoral Assistant/Associate serves as the primary support to the Lead Pastor in carrying out the day-to-day shepherding of the congregation. He will take the lead in certain ministry areas and have the opportunity to work in a wide range of ministry functions. This position could also provide an opportunity for receiving guidance and training as needed.

Job Responsibilities and Duties
Below are some of the core functions for this position:
1. Support the Lead Pastor in the church's overall vision and leadership.
Including but not limited to:
- Meet weekly with Pastor to maintain communication and provide feedback and improvement ideas for the church.
- Lead small-group Bible studies/discussion groups.
- Preach God's Word (depending on availability/ability/experience).
- Assist the Lead Pastor in organizing discipleship and educational ministry in the church.
- Help administrate the church's assets and operations.
2. Share in pastoral care and shepherding.
- Participate in the everyday life of the flock, including regular events (i.e., prayer meetings, men's fellowships) and special events (i.e., weddings, funerals).
- Assist in confidential pastoral counseling (depending on availability/ability/experience).
3. Other Duties As Assigned
- In a smaller church, there are inevitably areas which require varying levels of pastoral involvement and leadership. In addition to the core functions outlined above, there are a number of other ministries in which the Pastoral Associate/Assistant may lead and provide oversight based on the gifting and abilities of the individual hired. These will be discussed and decided collaboratively together with the man hired.
- Examples of potential areas include: assisting with music, overseeing small groups, helping with technology or A/V, leading outreach and missions, etc.
- The position may require a guided study with the Lead Pastor or theological education as appropriate. Any expectations along these lines would be communicated to the applicant during the interview process.
Work Schedule
This is a part-time position. Hours and expectations can be flexible in order to best accommodate the Associate Pastor/Pastoral Assistant's schedule. Our church is committed to encouraging healthy rhythms and balance for the Associate Pastor/Pastoral Assistant and his family.
Job Skills and Requirements
This position requires a man to:
- Exhibit evidence of Christian character that meets the qualifications of an elder as stated in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1–4.
- Exhibit a love for the flock and its mission of sharing the gospel and making disciples of Christ.
- Have a minimum of 2 years of full time or part time experience as a staff member or high-capacity volunteer in a ministry leadership capacity.
- Have a Bachelor's degree (or Bible/theology education in progress).

- A part-time salary to be decided
