Primary Purpose
A developing pastoral leader with sound biblical and theological grounding and a clear call to vocational ministry. The Pastoral Resident serves within a local Park church while participating in a Park-wide residency designed to equip leaders for pastoral ministry in an urban context.
This role integrates hands-on ministry leadership, intentional pastoral mentorship, and cohort-based training to form residents in spiritual maturity, preaching, and ministry leadership. The residency is an apprenticeship-driven program intended to prepare individuals for long-term pastoral ministry.
Time Allocation
- 18 hours/week – Local Church Ministry Responsibilities
- 10 hours/ week – Optional additional hours (applicant dependent)
- 4 hours/bi-weekly – Park-wide Residency Training & Cohort Participation
Key Responsibilities
Local Church Responsibilities (Primary Role)
- Lead and oversee a defined area of ministry (e.g., discipleship, small groups, youth, outreach, or volunteer leadership)
- Take ownership of ministry planning, execution, and development
- Lead, equip, and care for volunteers or ministry teams
- Participate in the life and leadership of the local church, including Sunday gatherings and staff collaboration
- Engage in regular pastoral mentorship with a supervising pastor (weekly or bi-weekly)
- Grow in pastoral care, leadership, and biblical communication
Residency Program Responsibilities (Park-Wide Formation)
- Attend and actively participate in bi-weekly cohort training gatherings
- Preach a minimum of four times throughout the residency with structured feedback
- Participate in assigned readings, training modules, or pastoral development exercises
- Receive and implement feedback through mid-year and final evaluations
- Collaborate with fellow residents in a cohort learning environment
