Crossroads Church Tell City is affiliated with the Southwestern Indiana Baptist Association, the State Convention of Baptists in Indiana, and the Southern Baptist Convention. Average Sunday attendance is between 55 and 65. Worship music is mixed with contemporary and traditional music. We are committed to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. We are seeking a Bi-vocational / Part Time Senior Pastor who is rooted in reformed theology and has a calling to disciple and raise up disciple makers.
Primary Responsibilities:
● Expository Preaching: The primary task is the faithful opening of Scripture during Sunday morning worship.
● Intentional Discipleship: Equipping members to study the Word, pray, minister, and evangelize.
● Elder led oversight: With the elders of the church work to provide spiritual direction, officiate ordinances, and keep the Word centered in all ministries.
● Shepherding: Provide Biblical counseling and presence for those in crisis (e.g. hospitalizations, grief, affliction, trauma, or restoration)
Biblical qualifications as given in 1 Tim 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9
● Above reproach - no reasonable allegations or accusations
● A one woman man - not a philanderer or casanova character
● Disciplined
○ Sober-minded - not easily swayed, stable
○ Self controlled - mentally disciplined, no rash decisions
● Respectable - appropriate and modest
● Hospitable - lit. a friend to strangers
● Able to teach - skilled in teaching
● Not a drunkard - lit. with wine
● Not violent but gentle - not a bully but kind
● Not arrogant - self willed stubbornness
● Not quarrelsome - lit. not not peaceful
● Not quick-tempered - not easily angered or upset
● Not a lover of money - lit. not not a philanthropist
● Not greedy for gain - shamefully greedy
● Not a recent convert - lit. not newly planted
● Manages his household well
○ With dignity - household issues shouldn’t spill out
○ Submissive children - respectful to parents and authorities
● Lover of good
● Upright - Righteous, Just
● Holy - Moral goodness displayed
● Well thought of by outsiders
● Children are faithful not living in debauchery or insubordination
● Holding firm to the trustworthy Word
