First Baptist Church of Calhoun (First Cal) is a Southern Baptist congregation in Calhoun, Louisiana. Our mission is to make disciples who share the gospel of Jesus Christ in Calhoun and around the world. Guided by "Gather. Grow. Go.", we seek to worship together, grow as disciples, and serve through evangelism and missions.
Position Overview
We are prayerfully seeking a spiritually mature, biblically grounded Senior Pastor to preach God's Word, shepherd our congregation, develop disciples, and lead with humility and integrity in fulfilling the Great Commission.
Minimum Qualifications
· Clear testimony of salvation and a demonstrated calling to pastoral ministry.
· Agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
· Meets the biblical qualifications in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–9.
· Ability to preach and teach Scripture faithfully and effectively.
· Strong Christian character, spiritual maturity, and ability to shepherd a multigenerational congregation.
· Commitment to evangelism, discipleship, missions, and Southern Baptist cooperation.
Preferred Qualifications
· Seminary or other formal theological education and prior ministry leadership experience.
· Experience developing ministries and working with staff, deacons, and church leaders.
Primary Responsibilities
· Preach and teach Scripture; provide spiritual leadership and pastoral care.
· Equip members for discipleship, service, evangelism, and missions.
· Lead and support church staff and ministry teams while working cooperatively with deacons and committees.
· Foster congregational unity and guide the church in pursuing its mission.
Compensation and Benefits
A competitive compensation package will be offered, commensurate with the selected candidate's qualifications, education, and ministry experience. Specific compensation and benefits will be discussed during the interview process.
