Paid; Full Time; With Benefits; Exempt

Work Week: (5) calendar days, including Sundays. Weekday Office Hours: 9am-5pm. Saturday is considered a day off except for emergencies and special occasions. All time commitments to be in accordance with Personnel Policy and Procedures Manual.

Basic Functions: The Senior Pastor shall serve as the chief administrator, lead under shepherd and overseer of this local church; feeding, leading and nurturing the sheep and encouraging other staff to take responsibility for initiative in their assigned areas. In consultation with the Personnel Committee, he shall make changes in responsibilities when necessary to fit the needs of the Church and/or the gifts and personalities of the staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare sermons and studies. Spend significant time in prayer and Bible studyParticipate in evangelism efforts through preaching and giving invitations during worship services, revival or other special services, visitation and other outreach efforts Perform other duties as may be needed to enhance the Lord's work at First Baptist Church, MadisonvilleServe as business administrator or designate an associate pastor, according to Church by-lawsConduct staff meetings and give general supervision to the entire staffServe as moderator to the Church business meetings Serve as the approval authority of all speakers at the worship services, wedding, and funerals conducted in representation of the Church and in the Church facilitiesContact/visit hospitalized or grieving church members and other ministerial visits and/or designate ministerial staff and deacons to these assignments Provide leadership and vision for the pastoral and ministerial staffConduct timely staff meetingsServe as an ex-officio member of all Church committeesProvide or delegate premarital counseling, counseling regarding salvation and spiritual issues and other counseling for church members as time permitsEnlist pulpit speakers, revival personnel, and leaders of special Bible studiesLead the Church in initiating innovative and effective ministries and act in an advisory capacity as needed in all areasGive leadership to the Deacon body and attend all meetings, when possibleEncourage the discovery and development of spiritual gifts among Church membershipBe involved in Southern Baptist denominational work and become involved in other work of the Church when neededOfficiate or delegate officiating at weddings and funeralsPerform or delegate officiating the ordinances of the Lord's Supper and Believer's BaptismOversee Church discipline and manage conflict in the church. Seek to reconcile relationships and promote unity within the church.
