We seek to be a church who loves, serves, and reaches our community with the good news of Jesus. The Pastor serves as the spiritual and administrative leader of the congregation, responsible for providing biblical teaching, pastoral care, and strategic vision. This role requires a deep commitment to the Baptist Faith and Message (2000) and a heart for reaching the community of Glennville and Tattnall County with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The primary responsibilities of the full-time pastor include:
Word and Worship Deliver prayerfully prepared Christ-centered sermons during Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Wednesday night services. Lead and oversee the administration of the ordinances (Baptism and the Lord's Supper). Coordinate with the music director to ensure worship services are doctrinally sound and spiritually engaging.
Pastoral Care Provide biblical counseling to individuals, couples, and families within the congregation. Visit the sick, elderly, and homebound members in Glennville and surrounding medical facilities. Officiate at weddings and funerals for church members and their families.
Leadership and Vision Moderate business meetings and serve as the ex-officio head of all church committees. Lead the staff and deacons in implementing the church's mission and long-term strategic goals. Champion evangelism and local outreach initiatives to connect with the South Georgia community.
Administrative Oversight Manage the day-to-day operations of the church office alongside administrative staff. Collaborate with the Finance Committee to develop and oversee the annual budget. Represent the church within the Tattnall-Evans Baptist Association and the Georgia Baptist Convention.
Qualifications
Spiritual Maturity: Meets the biblical qualifications of an overseer as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. Education: A Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent from an accredited Southern Baptist seminary is preferred. Experience: Previous experience in pastoral ministry, with a proven track record of healthy congregational growth is preferred. Doctrine: Full alignment with the Southern Baptist Convention's Baptist Faith and Message. Core Competencies
