Senior Pastor

Grace Baptist Church, a Southern Baptist Convention congregation in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, is prayerfully seeking God's choice for our next bi-vocational Senior Pastor.

We are a traditional-leaning Southern Baptist church seeking a shepherd-leader who can provide vision, direction, and spiritual leadership as we pursue church revitalization and renewed ministry effectiveness. The ideal candidate will be energized by the opportunity to help lead an established church into its next season of gospel impact, health, and growth. Grace Baptist Church has an average attendance of approximately 50 and is located in the southeast area of Murfreesboro.

Murfreesboro is Tennessee's fastest-growing city and the county seat of Rutherford County. With a population of approximately 160,000, it is located about 34 miles southeast of Nashville. The city is home to a diverse economic base and Middle Tennessee State University, the largest undergraduate university in Tennessee.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate should have at least three years of pastoral experience, although other ministry experience will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates who hold an undergraduate degree from an accredited Bible college or university.

The candidate must demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate God's Word through sound, biblically faithful expositional preaching. He should possess the ability to lead the church toward deeper discipleship, greater evangelistic engagement, and spiritual growth. In addition, he should have a shepherd's heart, evidenced by meaningful pastoral care and relational investment in the congregation.

Additional Requirements:

The candidate should:

· Meet the biblical qualifications for a pastor as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1–7, 2 Timothy 2, and Titus 1:5–9.

· Be a shepherd-leader who is comfortable serving in a traditional Southern Baptist church setting.

· Understand, or be willing to learn, the unique opportunities and challenges involved in church revitalization.

· Be a visionary leader and team player who can help discover, develop, and implement a renewed vision for Grace Baptist Church and lead the church in carrying out that vision.

· Demonstrate the ability to identify, equip, and develop leaders for ministry and pastoral care.

· Effectively engage in multi-generational ministry, with a particular emphasis on reaching and discipling younger families.

· Lead the church toward greater engagement with the Murfreesboro community and beyond through evangelism and ministry outreach.

· Have a Southern Baptist background and affirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
