I. The Role of Our Pastor:
We seek an ordained "Under-Shepherd" called by God to lead our congregation. Consistent with 1 Peter 5:2-3, our Pastor shall shepherd the flock of God at Old Lea Bethel, serving not under compulsion but willingly and lovingly, and being a godly example to our congregation.
II. Primary Responsibilities:
1. Spiritual Leadership & Preaching:
● Prepare and deliver Christ-centered, Bible-based sermons for all regular services (2 Timothy 4:2).
● Ensure that all teaching and preaching aligns with the doctrines set out in the Baptist Faith & Message and provides spiritual nourishment that is "profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16).
● Ensure that all teaching materials, devotionals, VBS programs, books, music and other purchased materials align with the Baptist Faith & Message and provide spiritual nourishment that is "profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16).

● Intentional Discipleship: Equip the saints of Old Lea Bethel for the work of The Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) and for the building up of the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:11-12).
● Gift Development: Facilitate the development of spiritual gifts within the body, helping members find their place of service within the church (1 Corinthians 12:4-7).
● Theological Guarding: Guard the "good deposit" entrusted to Old Lea Bethel (2 Timothy 1:14) and protect the congregation from any and all doctrine that contradicts sound biblical teaching (Titus 1:9).
3. Pastoral Care & Counseling:
● Actively visit the sick, the homebound, and those in the hospital, offering prayer and comfort (James 5:14).
● Provide biblical counseling to members and families during times of crisis or spiritual need (James 3:17).
● Foster a culture of "living" the gospel through personal interaction and fellowship (Acts 2:42).
4. Administrative & Orderly Leadership:
● Church Governance: Moderate church business meetings in accordance with parliamentary procedure to ensure all things are done "decently and in order" (1 Corinthians 14:40).
● Policy Stewardship: Serve as a wise advisor to church committees, ensuring that all actions and decisions accord with the Doctrines of our faith and the Bylaws of our church.
● Visionary Collaboration: Work with church leadership on future projects, building expansions, and ministry initiatives that may be necessary to support the on-going health and growth of Old Lea Bethel.
5. Commitment to Growth & Professional Development:
● Lifelong Learning: Maintain a personal commitment to "do your best to present yourself to God as one approved... rightly handling the word of truth" (2 Timothy 2:15).
● Leadership Development: Seek regular opportunities to grow as a preacher, leader, and shepherd, recognizing that "a wise man will hear and increase in learning" (Proverbs 1:5).

IV. Compensation & Benefits
