Sky View Missionary Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist congregation located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Fancy Gap, Virginia with an average weekly worship attendance of 350 congregants. We affirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and cooperate with the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) through the Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia. Established on a heritage of biblical preaching, reverent worship, and community faithfulness, Sky View is committed to the glory of God, the authority and sufficiency of Scripture, and the Great Commission.
We gather each week with a desire to exalt Christ, disciple believers, and reach our neighbors with the gospel. Our church family values expositional preaching, meaningful membership, and a warm, multigenerational fellowship. As we look toward the future, we seek a pastor who will shepherd us with theological clarity, pastoral compassion, and a heart for evangelism and missions both locally and globally.
Pastoral Responsibilities
The senior pastor will serve as the primary spiritual leader of the congregation. Responsibilities include:
Preaching & TeachingFaithful, expositional preaching of the whole counsel of GodLeading Sunday worship services and midweek teachingProviding doctrinally sound instruction consistent with God's glory and sovereigntyShepherding & DiscipleshipProviding pastoral care, counseling, and prayer supportEquipping members for ministry and spiritual growthLeading in the administration of the ordinancesLeadership & OversightWorking with deacons and ministry leaders to guide the church's missionProviding vision for outreach, discipleship, and church healthCommunity EngagementRepresenting the church within the local communityEncouraging evangelism and missional involvementBiblical Qualifications
Candidates must meet the qualifications for elders/pastors as outlined in:
1 Timothy 3:1–7; Titus 1:5–9; 1 Peter 5:1–4Additionally, the ideal candidate will:
Affirm the Baptist Faith & Message 2000Embrace cooperation with the SBC and the Southern Baptist Conservatives of VirginiaDemonstrate a life marked by humility, integrity, and spiritual maturityExhibit skill in teaching, pastoral care, and leadershipMaintain a commitment to prayer, evangelism, and discipleshipApplication Requirements
