Solo Pastor: Cornerstone Presbyterian Church (PCA)

Job Description:

The Pastor will devote his time and energies to the service of Christ and His Church. He will:

• Serve as solo pastor for a debt-free and financially stable church.
• Proclaim and teach the Word of God from the pulpit.
• Serve as the primary spiritual leader by providing direction and inspiration to the congregation.
• Teach the Word and theological concepts, instruct Church officers, develop lay teachers, and confirm new members.
• Facilitate Bible studies and educational programs that promote spiritual growth and theological understanding.
• Encourage and equip congregants to evangelize friends, neighbors, and the unchurched.
• Train and encourage lay ministers in pastoral care of congregants, encouraging members to walk beside one another during difficult times.
• Partner with elected Church leadership to communicate a clear and compelling vision and direction for Cornerstone Presbyterian Church that aligns with its mission and values
• Minister to our current senior members. (Transylvania County has one of the highest percentage of senior/retired adults in North Carolina.)
• Attract young families and college-age adults to join our congregation.
• Build partnerships in missions and local ministries.

Position Qualifications:

• Master of Divinity degree or equivalent from an accredited theological seminary.
• Affirms the authority, inerrancy, infallibility, and sufficiency of Scripture.
• Committed to the Reformed faith and the Westminster standards.
• Exemplifies the traits of an Elder in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1, including being a man of humility, integrity, and self-discipline.
• Prefer a minimum of five years of pastoral ministry experience demonstrating a history of impactful leadership and spiritual growth.
• Biblical exegetical skills through preaching and teaching.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal interactions and conflict management skills.
• Approachable with attentive listening skills.
• Embodies a personal and intimate relationship with God, characterized by an enthusiastic prayer life and dedication to living out biblical principles.
