Job Description:

• Take primary responsibility for the preaching and leadership of the Sunday morning and evening worship services in coordination with the music director
• Administration of the sacraments
• Lead special services to include but not be limited to weddings and funerals
• Work well with the Session and Diaconate and be a liaison between them.
• Supervise the work of the church secretary
• Keep regular office hours at the church
• Offer pastoral care and counseling to church members, including hospital visits, home visitations, and premarital counseling
• Conduct officer training for new officer candidates, as necessary
• Meet with prospective members and facilitate inquirer's classes for prospective new members, as necessary
• Work with the Session to lead the church in revitalization of our work and witness for the Lord in Monroeville.
• Encourage and equip congregants to evangelize friends, neighbors, and the unchurched.
• Assist with the recommendation and evaluation of curriculum, books, materials used in Sunday school programs, church sponsored Bible studies, library collections, etc.
• Work with the session to keep the church involved with the Southeast Alabama Presbytery, and PCA General Assembly, and report regularly to the congregation regarding important matters before our presbytery and denomination
• In cooperation with the Session, lead MPC in obedience to God's word in the Scriptures and compliance with the Book of Church Order
• Know the community and be active in it while exercising balance and discretion not to become overcommitted in community organizations to the detriment of family and church

Position Qualifications:

• Be approved by Southeast Alabama Presbytery to serve as pastor of Monroeville Presbyterian Church
• Affirms the authority, inerrancy, infallibility, and sufficiency of Scripture
• Exemplifies the traits of an Elder in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1, including being a man of humility, integrity, and self-discipline
• Embodies a personal and intimate relationship with God, characterized by an enthusiastic prayer life and dedication to living out biblical principles
• Approachable with attentive listening skills
• Is open to receive and welcomes feedback from church officers, staff, and congregation
• Biblical exegetical skills through preaching and teaching
