Solo Pastor: Olivet Presbyterian Church (PCA)

Job Description:

Responsibilities

50% – Preaching and Teaching

Biblical, Christ-centered preaching weekly 46/52 Sundays

Organizing and leading Sunday morning worship

Teach or coordinate the teaching of Sunday Night Bible Study

Teach communicant and inquirer classes as needed

Train prospective church officers

30% – Pastoral Care

Deliberately connecting with congregants and working with the elders in establishing and maintaining regular contact with congregants to encourage them in spiritual growth, with special focus on those in emergencies, with special needs, or crisis situations

Encourage the congregation in consistent attendance

Promote and equip the congregation in calling our neighbors to repentance of sin, faith in Christ, and obedience to his word

Praying for and with members of the congregation

20% – Organizational leadership

Moderate Session Meetings

Serve as advisory member of Diaconate

Develop ways for the members to use their gifts to participate in the work of the Church

Administrative duties

Position Qualifications:

M Div., Ordained (or eligible to be) in PCA, preference for 5+ years experience in ministry

related work

Meet the qualifications of 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9

Exemplary integrity and piety

Excel in discipleship and preaching and has proficiency in administration

Possesses a strong sense of calling to ministry

Dedication to the Great Commission

Hold a deep love of Christ's Church in her current state and have vision for growth of the

Church and her members

Have the ability to inspire, develop, and encourage leaders to help in the various ministries

Olivet Presbyterian Church is a historic congregation with almost two centuries of service to the Lord. We are blessed financially having no debt, recently renovated facilities, and room for growth. We are situated in southern York County, where we have enjoyed a rural and

agrarian lifestyle for generations, but are seeing growth as part of the greater Charlotte metropolitan area. Urban shopping and services can be reached with a relatively short drive while enjoying the more peaceful life of a small town and community.

In addition to our Sunday School for children and adults, followed by Sunday morning worship in a traditional style, we have a ministry for children and youth and an adult Bible Study on Sunday evenings. We have a monthly Sunday evening fellowship meal. Our summer ministries include VBS and a Tuesday-evening game night for youth. An adult group also meets for prayer on Wednesday evenings year-round.

Olivet enjoys a family atmosphere, where many members have known each other their entire lives, and newcomers have been welcomed to the flock.
