General Description
On behalf of Mount Zion Baptist Church, we are seeking a Christ-centered, relational, and visionary leader to serve as Senior High Student Minister. This full-time role focuses on the discipleship and spiritual development of students in grades 9–12, helping them build a lasting faith, engage in biblical community, and live on mission for Christ. The Senior High Student Minister will supervise the Junior High Student Minister, ensuring unity, alignment, and excellence across the entire student ministry.
Key Leadership Responsibilities
· Develop weekly Senior High worship services and combined worship services that are dynamic.
· Provide leadership, vision, and pastoral care for all aspects of the Senior High Ministry (9th–12th grade).
· Oversee the Junior High Student Minister, providing support, accountability, and collaboration to ensure consistent and effective ministry from 7th–12th grade.
· Recruit and lead a team of adult leaders and volunteers who serve as mentors, small group leaders, and ministry partners.
· Partner with other ministry departments to integrate students into the larger life and mission of Mount Zion.
· Provide general oversight of college ministry.
Teaching & Discipleship
· Participate in the corporate discipleship model of Mount Zion Baptist Church.
· Serve as the primary teacher and communicator for weekly Senior High gatherings, ensuring biblically faithful and relevant messages.
· Develop a strategic discipleship pathway that helps students grow in their faith, engage in spiritual disciplines, and develop a biblical worldview.
· Equip students to serve in the church, reach their peers with the gospel, and pursue leadership opportunities within the ministry.
· Prioritize Sunday morning and Wednesday evening programming.
Engagement
· Build meaningful relationships with students by being present in their lives both inside and outside the church (e.g., school events, games, performances).
· Engage and support parents as key partners in the spiritual development of their teens by providing regular communication, resources, and encouragement.
· Provide pastoral care, mentoring, and guidance for students navigating spiritual, emotional, or relational challenges.
Events & Programming
· Plan and execute engaging and purposeful events such as retreats, mission trips, camps, and outreach opportunities that help students grow in community and faith.
· Coordinate and communicate across multiple ministries to properly utilize church facilities.
· Create safe, welcoming environments where students feel known, valued, and challenged to follow Jesus.
· Manage logistics and details for events with excellence, including budgeting, registration, promotion, and volunteer coordination.
Administration
· Maintain clear and consistent communication with students, parents, volunteers, and church leadership.
· Steward the Senior High Ministry budget effectively and responsibly.
· Evaluate ministry effectiveness through regular feedback, student engagement, and alignment with church goals.
Qualifications
· A mature, growing relationship with Jesus Christ marked by humility, integrity, and a servant's heart.
· A highly disciplined work ethic.
· A clear sense of calling to student ministry and alignment with the mission, values, and beliefs of Mount Zion Baptist Church.
· A passion for seeing students come to know Christ, grow in their faith, and live on mission. A commitment to lead his spouse and family into active participation in the ministries of Mount Zion Baptist Church.
Professional/Education
Bachelor's degree and Master's degree from Seminary are required. Master's can be in process.
Minimum 3+ years of experience leading student ministry in a church context. Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to manage a team, develop leaders, and handle multiple responsibilities with excellence.
Full-time position that includes regular evening and weekend responsibilities. Active participation in the life of Mount Zion Baptist Church, including worship services, staff meetings, fellowships, Church-wide celebrations, initiatives, and major church events. Reports directly to the Executive Pastor and Senior Pastor. Other duties may be assigned. This position also works in close partnership with other ministry leaders and support staff.
