Sunday Morning Church Pianist: First Presbyterian Church of Aliceville

Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities: Play for Sunday Morning Worship each week, occasionally

accompany choir or soloists, attend and play for choir rehearsals (seasonally), occasionally play for

additional Seasonal Services.

Other: We are looking for someone who, above all, has a heart for the Lord and a desire to

assist the church in Worship. We also are looking for a candidate who works well and can

collaborate with others. Our ideal candidate would also be someone who has a spirit of humility.

Special Events: We do a Christmas Cantata every year usually the first or second Sunday in

December. It is a wonderful night of music and highlight of the year for the entire community!

We typically begin rehearsals for Christmas at the end of September or beginning of October. We always work with our musicians on the rehearsal schedule that works best for them. We also have a Maundy Thursday Communion Service during Holy Week, some special music for Palm Sunday & Easter, as well as other opportunities to play for things such as weddings and funerals if available. Those are not required, but may be offered to you.

Position Qualifications:

Skills/Abilities: Piano proficiency, ability to sightread, familiarity with hymns as well as

contemporary music, adaptability, ability to play choral accompaniment, ability to play from

a lead sheet or chord chart. Ability to transpose is a bonus.

traditional in worship style, but we love to incorporate more modern styles that are still

theologically rich. This is a very loving congregation and truly does feel like a family. We have

always had a wonderful relationship with our musicians. We are in an exciting place right

now as youth and younger people are showing interest in joining the choir and participating

with enthusiasm.
