Job Description:
The Pastor of Grace Fellowship will be a devoted shepherd who understands, embraces, and cultivates true Christian community. Grounded in a vibrant, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, he will heartily receive and adopt the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms. He will enthusiastically model the EPC ethos of holding fast to the Essentials of Our Faith while extending liberty and charity in non-essentials. He must be a welcoming, compassionate, and emotionally mature leader who connects authentically with our congregation and the Marshall community. As an effective preacher and innovative worship leader, his expository teaching will consistently point believers to their absolute need for God. A protective and collaborative leader, he will work closely with our church staff, Session, and volunteers. He will utilize strong administrative skills to maintain biblical order and establish systems that ensure the congregation is well cared for. His ministry will focus on equipping the saints—helping members develop their spiritual gifts and apply Reformed faith to daily life. Finally, he will carry a deep heart for pastoral care, demonstrating readiness to minister to those in crisis, regularly visit the hospitalized and homebound, and intentionally pursue inactive members with Christ's love. The Pastor Will:
- Cultivate Personal Faith: Maintain a vibrant personal relationship with Christ, demonstrating a profound attentiveness to His Word, His mission, and His work within the church body.
- Equip the Congregation: Anchor the church in active participation with the mission of advancing Christ's kingdom by equipping members through sound Biblical teaching, focused prayer, intentional discipleship, and corporate worship.
- Lead Corporate Worship: Oversee the planning and execution of all worship services and faithfully administer the Sacraments in accordance with the EPC Book of Order.
- Moderate the Session: Serve as Moderator of the Session, leading the Ruling Elders in prayerfully discerning God's will within the collective wisdom of the Session. 2
- Support the Diaconate: Coordinate with and support the Board of Deacons as an advisory member in their ministry of mercy and service.
- Office Hours: Have some general hours set aside to be accessible in the office
- Multiply Leaders & Ministries: Drive church-wide discipleship initiatives, empowering lay leadership, volunteers, and ministries through teaching, vision development, and encouraging recognition and use of members' spiritual gifts.
- Provide Pastoral Care: Deliver and oversee proactive pastoral care, visitation, and compassionate crisis counseling.
- Engage Local Outreach: Engage in planning and participating in community outreach
- Develop Youth Ministry: Actively work with the youth minister to develop and guide a thriving youth ministry.
- Oversee Administration: Work with the office administrator in generating annual reporting, monitoring membership roll accuracy, event coordination, financial health, and member communication.
- Maintain Connectional Ties: Actively participate as a Teaching Elder in the life, ministry, and meetings of the Gulf South Presbytery and the EPC General Assembly.
Position Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Master of Divinity (M.Div.): Or equivalent theological seminary degree from an accredited institution.
- EPC Ordination: Must be an ordained Teaching Elder in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, or fully qualified and ready to undergo the EPC ordination/transfer process.
- Empowering Leader: An encourager who intentionally identifies, cultivates, and empowers the spiritual gifts of others within the body.
- Expository Preacher: A gifted preacher and teacher possessing a deep love for and rich understanding of God's Word.

Grace Fellowship was founded in 1985 and is a member of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Located in Marshall, Texas, we have a current active membership of 60. Current staff members are part-time, and include an office administrator, secretary/bookkeeper, children's minister, and worship leader. We are currently seeking a youth minister. Our ministry is supported by a debt free, financially secure campus featuring a beautiful brick facility that sits on 6 acres. We gather Sunday mornings for Sunday School and Worship, and Wednesday evenings for a fellowship meal and further Bible study. We are a loving community of believers who adhere to Reformed theology, striving to love God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbor as our self. Our purpose is to glorify God as we live out our faith to further His kingdom, grow in spiritual maturity through the study and application of His Word, and encourage each other in our daily walk with Him.
