New Light Christian Church is a non-denominational, multi-ethnic, multi-generational, inner-city church whose mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ, teach them to obey His commandments, and see lives changed through the power of the gospel.
Our church community worships in the historic Columbia City neighborhood in Seattle. We recently celebrated our 33rd anniversary as a church. We have a committed core group in a diverse congregation open to what God has in store for us next.
Our hope in this next season is for God to create vibrant and Spirit-led gatherings on Sunday mornings where the gospel is preached and lives are transformed, missional communities during the week demonstrating the love of Christ in their respective neighborhoods, joining God's vision of justice for South Seattle, and raising up leaders to plant and revitalize churches in Seattle and beyond.
The Worship Director's role is to lead New Light in beholding the glory of God through Jesus Christ and respond to Him in worship through theologically rich, gospel-centered, and culturally relevant gospel music. Worship provides an experience with the Living God that allows believers to express their love, gratitude and commitment to our King of kings and Lord of lords.
Job Description
Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee the worship team for Sunday worship services
- Plan worship services in advance in collaboration with Lead Pastor
- Planning weekly set lists and mapping out new songs
- Schedule teams of instrumentalists, vocalists, and tech
- Organize and lead rehearsals
- Lead musical worship on Sunday mornings
- Recruiting, auditioning, teaching, and training musicians/vocalists for the purpose of building strong worship teams.
- Implementing and maintaining technology in worship to improve the quality of sound and enable the worship team to flow well (ProPresenter, Ableton, Playback, etc.).
- Spiritually care and shepherd the members on your team, and demonstrate a genuine love for the congregation as a whole.
- Bonus: Writing and releasing songs that exalt the Savior and give voice to the pain of those in our community and around the world
- Staying up to date on current gospel worship trends, and integrating new songs into the team.

Hours
- 10-15 hours/week
- Sunday Morning (~4hrs)
- Rehearsal (currently Saturday mornings): ~2-4hrs
- Admin Day during week: ~4hrs
Qualificatons
- Be current follower of Christ and demonstrate Christ-like character (1 Tim 3:8-13).
- Current knowledge of and experience in leading a worship team/band
- Experience both vocally and leading from the stage
- Works well with people
- Well-versed in Gospel and CCM Christian Music
- Ability to recruit, train, and empower volunteers for various worship responsibilities.
- Handling sensitive and personal information with confidentiality and discretion.
- Demonstrate a teachable spirit.
- Be a self-starter, self-learner, and problem-fixer.
