Founded 162 years ago, True Hope Church is a multiplying community of people transformed by the Gospel, devoted to God's Word, committed in community, and relentless in prayer so that our families, our neighbors, our city, and our world will know that Jesus is True Hope. We're a multi-generational congregation comprised of people from all walks of life; a downtown church of around 350 that gathers throughout two Sunday morning services at 9:00 & 10:30am.

About the Role:

The Worship Director is one of the primary leaders responsible for helping develop and strengthen a healthy and holistic worship culture at True Hope. In collaboration with the Pastor of Worship & Families and Lead Pastor, they will help consistently plan and lead the Sunday Liturgy—one that glorifies God, is led by the Holy Spirit, activates the gifts of others, and helps lead the congregation into a deeper love for and obedience to Jesus Christ.

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Worship Leadership & Weekend Services (60%)

  • Plan and lead worship regularly during Wednesday night rehearsal and throughout all Sunday morning services.
  • Arrange music, create chord charts, build trax, and post all materials via Planning Center Online to ensure worship arts volunteers are prepared.
  • Select music that is biblically sound, supports the weekly sermon theme, and is aligned with the mission, vision, and values of True Hope Church.
  • Develop weekly orders of service and help lead the weekly service planning meeting alongside other staff.
  • Ensure all areas of live production are prepared and ready for volunteer teams to operate on Sundays (set stage, build audio session, load ProPresenter, etc)
  • Collaborate with other ministry areas to coordinate musical programming for events such as weddings, funerals, or other churchwide gatherings.
  • Work alongside the Pastor of Worship & Families to implement, maintain, repair, and replace any music or production equipment as needed.

Team Leadership & Volunteer Development (25%)

  • Recruit, train, and develop all worship arts ministry leaders and volunteers (musicians, vocalists, audio engineers, graphics operators, etc).
  • Schedule all weekly musicians, vocalists, and production volunteers serving on Sundays or at special events.
  • Meet regularly with volunteers, helping them grow and develop personally, spiritually, and musically.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, encouragement, and feedback to volunteers, both individually and corporately.
  • Foster a culture of spiritual growth, excellence, and teamwork.
  • Support other ministry leaders with worship arts-related needs.

Administration & Personal Development (15%)

  • Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings and help lead the weekly service planning meeting.
  • Work closely alongside of, and meet regularly with, the Pastor of Worship & Families to ensure departmental alignment with the vision and strategic direction of the church.
  • Meet regularly with the Lead Pastor to plan the Sunday Liturgy and ensure a strong connection with the sermon.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in a field relating to ministry and/or music. However, a combination of experience or other training may be considered.
  • 3+ years' experience leading worship in a local church setting.
  • Vocally and musically proficient; capable of leading a team of volunteers, giving overall direction to both the musical and vocal components.
  • Experience and familiarity with Microsoft Office 365, Planning Center Online, and other worship technology (ProPresenter, Playback, etc) strongly desired.
  • Experience with other audio, video, lighting, and livestream systems (Midas/Behringer, Blackmagic, Resi, and ProPresenter) preferred.

Spiritual Maturity & Leadership:

  • Clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ resulting in a growing and vibrant relationship with God and others.
  • Gifted, spirit-led worship leader committed to a Christ-centered approach to corporate worship; able to differentiate between presentational and participatory worship experiences.
  • Humble and godly character consistent with the qualifications of a church leader as set forth in Scripture.
  • Clear call to ministry and genuine love for people; desire to help them grow in Christ.
  • Relational and collaborative, energized by developing and strengthening a healthy team and worship culture.
  • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills to build and grow relationships with a variety of people—at True Hope and throughout the community.
  • Willingness to become a member, and remain in good standing of, True Hope Church.
