Job Overview
Position Summary
The Worship Leader is responsible for cultivating an atmosphere of prayer through worship that leads to encounter with God. The role seeks to use the worship experience as a time to foster a vision of God and an earnestness in seeking him.
We are seeking a leader who carries the heart of a worshipper—someone who sees music and singing as a response to God, not a performance—and who is passionate about forming this same heart in both team and congregation. This person will prayerfully curate worship experiences that create invitation for God's presence, since God is enthroned on the praises of his people.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
1. Worship Planning & Leading
- Plan and lead weekly worship services in collaboration with the Pastor and teaching team.
- Curate worship experiences that integrate music, Scripture, and prayer into a cohesive and Spirit-led living narrative.
- Select songs that are theologically rich, spiritually formative, and aligned with both the church's vision and the immediate Sunday teaching text.
- Lead worship with musical excellence (vocally and/or instrumentally).
- Cultivate moments of encounter through prayer, reflection, and response.
- Help shape services where worship is not just sung, but experienced as a pathway into God's presence.
2. Prayer & Worship Culture
- Champion a culture where prayer and worship are deeply integrated, recognizing that pursuing prayer fuels authentic worship.
- Create environments that foster expectation for God to move and invite the congregation into participation, not observation.
- Model a life of worship that extends beyond the platform into everyday discipleship.
3. Team Development & Discipleship
- Recruit, train, and shepherd a team of musicians, vocalists, and tech volunteers.
- Develop not just skilled musicians, but true worshippers—individuals who understand worship as a response to God.
- Foster a culture of spiritual growth, humility, excellence, and community within the team.
- Lead rehearsals that are both musically effective and spiritually formative.
- Intentionally disciple team members in their gift and calling.
4. Worship as Discipleship
- View and lead worship as a form of congregational discipleship.
- Help shape services that form hearts and minds, not just create moments.
- Summon congregational participation, teaching the church to engage in worship with the entire being.
5. Administrative and Technical Oversight
- Utilize tools like Planning Center to organize and communicate weekly worship plans.
- Coordinate with A/V team to ensure excellence in sound, visuals, and livestream.
- Maintain and organize instruments, equipment, and worship-related resources.
6. Church Collaboration
- Participate in staff meetings and overall ministry planning.
- Support special services and church-wide events.
- Align all worship ministry efforts with the vision, mission, and values of Citizens Church.
7. Ministry Support
- Provide care and spiritual support to team members and the congregation.
- Engage in the broader life of the church.
- Remain flexible and willing to serve where needed.

- Alignment with the church's theology, vision, and practices.
- Commitment to a well-structured Rule of Life (including practices such as prayer, solitude, Scripture, sabbath, fasting, generosity, witness, service, and intentional community).
