Worship Leader
The worship leader provides leadership to the Worship Ministry and all involved, cultivating lives of serving, passionate and skillful worship leadership at our church. The worship leader leads congregational worship and serves alongside the Pastor to teach, train, and encourage God's people in glorifying God, with special emphasis on instrumental music, group singing (choirs, singing groups, etc.), and media.
Major Responsibilities:Musical Leadership:
- Lead in worship services and oversee the scheduling and layout of services, planning worship services that are God-centered, congregational in approach, and biblical in doctrinal expression (recognizing that worship is integral to the church's discipleship).
- Selection of music for worship services, in collaboration with the Pastor.
- Plan and lead worship services for special occasions (eg. Easter, Christmas, Prayer Gatherings, etc.).
- Lead and /or acquire leadership for all music groups.
- Maintain an awareness and understanding of worship trends.
Program Leadership
- Oversee and administrate music and worship staff members and worship team volunteer leadership.
- Interview and audition instrumentalists and vocalists and help them grow in their giftedness.
- Take ownership for the Worship Center and Chapel space in preparation for worship and special events.
- Oversee the development and scheduling of A/V team members.
- Oversee the purchase, maintenance and repair of all musical instruments and A/V equipment.
- Oversee maintenance of the Church music library and to ensure compliance with copyright laws.
- Manage software and systems related to the worship ministry.
- Develop and maintain a budget related to the worship ministry.
- Carry out other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Senior Pastor.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Cooperate with staff pastors and lay leadership for any special worship needs (special events, etc.)
- Recognize the diverse nature of the congregation and to seek to develop services broadly contextualized to each.
- Develop an understanding of worship, music, and media through teaching and educational opportunities.
- Lead recruitment efforts for the worship and A/V teams.
- Oversee and give leadership to team leaders in the following areas: instrumental, graded children's choirs, and media.
Other:
This is a general statement of job responsibilities; however, the Worship Leader is expected to perform other duties as required to support the mission and ministries of Fayetteville First Baptist Church including job duty changes due to pandemics or any other unexpected change in operations.
Supervision:
Supervises the A/V ministry, production staff, and worship leaders (paid and volunteer).
Education and Experience:
Be a committed Christian with a calling to worship ministry. Should be actively growing in a personal walk of faith in Jesus Christ as exemplified in daily spiritual disciplines, a regular personal witness, and a life of service both in the church and community. The worship leader should be experienced in worship ministry, and carry out worship ministry in accord with our church's doctrine and the leadership of our Senior Pastor. 5 years of experience leading worship required.
