Worship Leader
I. PURPOSE
The Worship Leader provides musical and spiritual leadership for the corporate worship of Westview
Baptist Church. This role focuses on planning and leading Christ-centered worship services,
organizing and developing praise teams and worship bands, and equipping volunteers to serve in the
worship ministry.
The Worship Leader works under the supervision of the Senior Pastor and collaborates with church
staff to support the overall mission and ministry of the church.
II. QUALIFICATIONS
A. Faith & Character
1. A born-again believer who affirms the Baptist Faith & Message and the doctrine and policies
of Westview Baptist Church
2. Demonstrates spiritual maturity, integrity, and a clear sense of calling to ministry.
3. Maintains a Christ-honoring lifestyle, including personal evangelism and responsible online
conduct.
4. Has strong interpersonal skills and communicates in a Christ-like manner.
B. Skills and Abilities
1. Ability to lead engaging congregational worship across multiple musical styles in a blended
environment.
2. Experience organizing and leading praise teams, worship bands, and vocalists.
3. Ability to recruit, develop, and shepherd volunteers in the worship ministry.
4. Musical proficiency in guitar, piano, or keyboard (ability to play at least one preferred).
5. Ability to evaluate song lyrics for theological soundness.
6. Familiarity with ProPresenter, audio/visual systems, and digital soundboards is preferred.
C. Education & Experience
1. Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in music, ministry, or a related field.
2. Prior experience serving in a church worship ministry (staff or volunteer).
III. Primary Responsibilities
A. Worship Leadership
1. Plan and lead weekly corporate worship services in cooperation with the Senior Pastor.
2. Lead the congregation in biblical, Christ-centered worship.
3. Organize and lead worship bands, praise teams, and vocalists.
4. Schedule volunteers and coordinate rehearsals for worship teams.
5. Help develop a worship culture that encourages congregational participation.
B. Ministry Development
1. Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteers involved in the worship ministry.
2. Identify and develop musical gifts within the congregation.
3. Coordinate special worship services or seasonal programs as needed.
C. Administration
1. Manage worship ministry scheduling, materials, and equipment.
2. Assist in planning and managing the worship ministry budget in cooperation with church
leadership.
3. Attend staff meetings and participate in church activities and ministry planning.
IV. Employment Details
A. Part-time position (20 hours per week); Full-time position (approximately 40 hours per week)
B. Compensation package determined based on qualifications and experience.
C. Vacation, holidays, and leave policies provided according to church guidelines.
D. Performance evaluations conducted periodically by the Senior Pastor and Personnel Committee.
V. Accountability
The Worship Leader serves under the direction of the Senior Pastor and in cooperation with the
Personnel Committee, supporting the overall mission and vision of Westview Baptist Church.
