Position Summary:
Arlington Baptist Church is seeking a Worship Pastor to lead and develop our music ministry. We are looking for a man who demonstrates a genuine passion for shepherding God's people and leading the church in biblically faithful, Christ-centered worship.
The Worship Pastor will serve as a spiritual leader within the church while providing oversight and direction for the music ministry. This individual will work closely with the Senior Pastor and Pastor Team in planning worship services, selecting and preparing biblically faithful music, shepherding church members, developing ministry leaders, and cultivating a culture of worship that exalts Christ and encourages congregational participation.
Qualifications:
– The candidate must demonstrate Christian character and a family life that harmonizes with the qualifications for church leadership outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:7–9.
– The candidate should possess proficient musical abilities and demonstrate the ability to lead and develop musicians, vocalists, choirs, and other participants in the church's music ministry.
– The candidate should have a strong commitment to biblically grounded, Christ-centered worship and a desire to serve the local church through both music ministry and pastoral care.
-The candidate should demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with the Senior Pastor, Pastor Team, church staff, ministry leaders, and congregation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Worship Leadership and Planning:
– Lead and provide direction during worship services, including congregational singing, choir, musicians, and other aspects of corporate worship.
– Assist the Senior Pastor and Pastor Team in planning congregational worship services and other special services of the church.
– Select, prepare, and coordinate biblically faithful, Christ-centered music appropriate for congregational worship.
– Provide appropriate music and musical leadership for weddings, funerals, special projects, and other church-related activities.
– Work collaboratively with other staff members in planning and supporting church-wide events and activities as needed.
Music Ministry Leadership and Development:
– Direct and oversee choir rehearsals and provide leadership to the church choir and instrumentalists.
– Enlist, recruit, train, and develop leaders for various areas of the church's music ministry.
– Actively recruit and develop musicians and vocalists of all ages, encouraging participation and spiritual growth within the music ministry.
– Oversee the organization and maintenance of the church's music library, musical materials, supplies, instruments, audio and video equipment, and other resources used in the music ministry.
– Prepare an annual music ministry budget that reflects the needs and priorities of the church's entire music program.
– Prepare reports and other information necessary to keep church leadership and the congregation informed regarding the status and needs of the music ministry.
Pastoral and Spiritual Ministry:
– Serve alongside the Pastor Team in shepherding the congregation according to the Word of God and as the Holy Spirit leads.
– Assist with pastoral care responsibilities, including hospital visits and other ministry needs, when called upon.
– Maintain a visible and active presence in the life and ministry of the church, building relationships with members and encouraging them in their walk with Christ.
Communications and Digital Ministry:
– Assist with the editing and preparation of print and digital materials produced and distributed by the church.
– Assist in managing the church's social media platforms and other digital content, helping communicate the church's ministries, events, and message effectively.
Denominational and Community Engagement:
– Attend and participate in local, state, and national Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) functions and gatherings when possible and as appropriate.
– Represent Arlington Baptist Church in a manner consistent with the church's beliefs, values, mission, and commitment to the local community and the broader Southern Baptist Convention.
General Expectations:
The Worship Pastor is expected to:
– Maintain a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ and demonstrate a life of spiritual maturity and integrity.
– Lead worship in a manner that is biblically faithful, Christ-centered, and focused on congregational participation rather than personal performance.
– Demonstrate a servant's heart and a willingness to work collaboratively with church leadership, staff, volunteers, and congregation members.
– Encourage and develop the gifts of others, recognizing that the music ministry is a ministry of the entire church rather than an individual performer.
– Carry out responsibilities with professionalism, dependability, humility, and a spirit of cooperation.
– Support the overall mission, vision, doctrine, and ministry of Arlington Baptist Church.
Position Goal:
The primary goal of the Worship Pastor is to lead and develop a healthy, Christ-centered music ministry that faithfully supports the mission of Arlington Baptist Church, equips believers to use their gifts in service to the church, and leads the congregation to worship God through biblically faithful music and corporate worship.
