Worship Pastor

Job Overview

The worship pastor at DOCC will plan, prepare, and lead worship services and provide worship elements in pastoral contexts (such as weddings and funerals) in partnership with the senior pastor. He will also identify, train, and equip worship leadership teams which are a blend of professional and volunteer musicians and vocalists. This position requires a high level of leadership and musicianship. The ideal candidate will be skilled vocally and on multiple instruments. He will also be proficient in Planning Center for worship planning and scheduling.

The worship pastor will also help develop and oversee worship structures in next gen areas (children and students) by training and working with the bands and vocalists who lead those gatherings.

As a part of the ministry staff, the worship pastor will serve as a member of the Executive Team, the church's senior leadership team.

Seminary degree preferred. A minimum of five years experience in a large, multi-service church context required.

Job Description

Responsibilities for leadership and oversight that are unique for the Worship Pastor fall into four areas: planning and leading worship services and gatherings for Double Oak Community Church; recruiting, training, and leading members of the worship ministry team; cooperating with Director of Technology to maintain and upgrade audio-visual equipment as needed; managing distribution of original worship recordings.

  • Plan and lead worship services and gatherings- coordinate with the senior pastor to plan worship services that are biblically centered and that reinforce the senior pastor's sermon; utilize a variety of worship elements that draw attenders into an atmosphere of genuine worship; rehearse with the worship team to prepare for the service. Additional services may include funerals, weddings, and other special events.
  • Worship ministry team- recruit and train musicians and vocalists to participate in leading worship as part of the worship team; request and disseminate compensation; lead rehearsals for the worship team
  • Maintain and upgrade audio-visual equipment- coordinate with Director of Technology to recommend needed upgrades to meet worship room audio-visual needs
  • Manage creation, production, and distribution of original worship recordings
