Worship Pastor Part-Time DescriptionWe are looking to call a Worship Pastor who will partner in the vision and mission of First Baptist Church. Our desire is to CONNECT to Jesus and others so that we can be ROOTED and RISING in the Light of Christ! The Worship Pastor will provide spiritual and musical leadership for the worship ministry of First Baptist Church under the supervision of the Senior Pastor. The Worship Pastor will work alongside the pastor, staff, musicians, and volunteers to help create worship environments that are biblically faithful, Christ-centered, spiritually engaging, and focused on helping the congregation respond to the Gospel.

The Worship Pastor will lead the congregation in corporate worship while also investing in and developing the people who serve within the worship ministry. This includes recruiting, equipping, encouraging, and shepherding worship team members, musicians, vocalists.This is a part-time position of approximately 15 hours per week. Because worship ministry often requires time outside of traditional office hours, the schedule will include appropriate preparation during the week as well as regular participation in Sunday worship and other scheduled services and events.

The Worship Pastor will also serve as part of the church's ministerial staff and will participate in the ministry of the whole church as time and responsibilities allow.

A. STAFF RELATIONSHIPS:

  1. Weekly schedule: This is a part-time position with an expectation of approximately 15 hours per week. Because much of the ministry takes place on Sundays and during scheduled rehearsals, the Worship Pastor's schedule will include both preparation time during the week and ministry responsibilities outside of normal office hours.
  2. Staff meetings: regularly attend and participate in weekly staff meetings.
  3. Monthly: Provide regular communication with the Senior Pastor regarding worship ministry accomplishments, upcoming plans, needs within the worship ministry, volunteer development, and areas where additional support or direction may be needed.
  4. Yearly evaluation: an annual review with the Senior Pastor.
  5. 24/7: See yourself as part of this team to the degree that you pray for and pray with others on the ministerial staff, as we are all lead by the Spirit of God.

B. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Pastoral Duties
    1. Focus on building life giving relationships with praise team while still maintaining a whole church mindset.
    2. Work closely with the Senior Pastor to ensure that the worship ministry supports the overall vision, theology, and direction of First Baptist Church.
    3. Help cultivate a culture of worship that extends beyond Sunday morning and encourages the congregation to live lives of worship throughout the week.
    4. Help as needed and when available with pastoral/administrative duties such as preaching, baptisms, weddings, etc.
    5. While the primary ministry is through FBC, there may be time approved by the Senior Pastor for the Worship Pastor to lead/preach in other churches for special services, revivals, etc. for the sake of the Kingdom.
  2. Worship Ministry Duties
    1. Provide leadership for the church's weekly worship services including Sundays and Wednesdays, including planning and leading congregational worship.
    2. Lead worship in a manner that is Christ-centered, biblically faithful, congregationally focused, and as led by the Spirit for the context of First Baptist Church.
    3. Prepare thoroughly for weekly worship services, including song selection, arrangements, transitions, keys, instrumentation, vocal parts, and communication with the worship team. Lead or oversee regular rehearsals for the worship team, helping musicians and vocalists prepare spiritually and musically for worship.
    4. Develop a healthy worship ministry culture where volunteers understand that they are not simply performing music but serving the congregation and helping lead people in worship.
    5. Help provide worship leadership for special services and church-wide events such as Christmas, Easter, baptisms, special worship services, revival or outreach events, and other services as needed.
    6. Work with the church's children and youth ministries as appropriate to help encourage worship among the next generation.
    7. Be willing to work with other worship teams in the community for different outreach events.
    8. Coordinate with the church's Ministry Assistant and other staff members regarding facility use, scheduling, special services, and church-wide events.
    9. Manage the worship ministry budget in cooperation with the Senior Pastor and church leadership.

C. QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A commitment to living life as a fully devoted follower of Jesus that is committed to the inerrant Holy Word of God and led by the Spirit of God.
  2. A commitment to live according to the qualifications for eldership as laid out in Titus 1 and 1 Timothy 3.
  3. A commitment to live by the doctrinal statements of First Baptist Church (see: www.fbcprinceton.com)
  4. A commitment to lead with a humble attitude, exemplifying the mind of Christ in Philippians 2:3-8 and the heart of a servant in Mark 10:45 ("Did not come to be served, but to serve")
  5. A commitment to live a sexually pure life that is above reproach such as Ephesians 5:3 where it says, "But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints."
  6. An ability to communicate well with all groups in the scope of his ministry, setting clear expectations and listening to needs. Living out James 1:19, "Be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath."
  7. A commitment to the church through supporting the mission of the church. (e.g. tithes and offerings)
  8. Living with an understanding that we cannot lead others to a place we are not personally at nor can we give away something we do not have. We must lead by example.
  9. A demonstrated calling into worship ministry and an evident faith in Jesus Christ is required. The minister should have some related experience in the local church setting.

First Baptist Church of Princeton is a historic church in the heart of Princeton, Kentucky, with a long-standing commitment to proclaiming the Gospel, discipling believers, and serving the local community. Located at 300 West Main Street, First Baptist Church has been a part of the Princeton community for generations and continues to provide opportunities for people of all ages to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. We are currently averaging about 285 people on Sunday Morning worship, with a majority of young families. FBC Princeton is a rich opportunity to be a part of God's mighty movement!

Our church is currently experiencing a season of renewed ministry and opportunity.
