Worship Pastor
Supervisor
The Worship Pastor will serve as part of the Grace Community Church staff team under the supervision of the Lead Pastor/Teaching Elder. This role does not involve serving on the elder board.
Purpose
The Worship Pastor will serve as a key leader in the life of Grace Community Church by supporting the Lead Pastor in planning and leading Sunday worship gatherings, by equipping the next generation of worship leaders, and by cultivating an atmosphere of meaningful worship to not be a performance by a few, but a heartfelt response by all to the magnificence of God.
Qualifications
The right candidate will be both spiritually grounded and practically skilled, demonstrating:
· Biblical qualifications of an elder (1 Timothy 3:1–7; Titus 1:6–9; 1 Peter 5:2–3).
· Agreement with Grace Community Church's doctrine (graceccnc.org/doctrine).
· Ordination or willingness to pursue ordination through Grace Community Church's pathway.
· A Christian undergraduate degree (or equivalent with at least one year of seminary); a seminary degree is preferred but not required.
· Musical proficiency (vocally and instrumentally) with the ability to lead congregational worship.
· Experience leading worship and developing teams, ideally across multiple age groups.
· Strong relational and leadership skills with a heart for mentoring and discipling others.
· Experience with audio/visual systems (sound, lighting, livestream) and comfort leading in a tech-savvy environment.
· Proficiency with Apple products, Planning Center Online, ProPresenter, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.
· Strong organizational, communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate and thrive in a team environment.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
· Serve as the primary worship leader for Sunday services and major church events.
· Design worship sets and liturgies that are Christ-centered, God-honoring, culturally relevant, and creatively rooted in Christian heritage, reflecting Grace Community Church's doctrine, values, and mission without being confined by tradition.
· Provide leadership in planning and executing special services (e.g., Advent, Christmas Eve, Holy Week, outdoor services, funerals).
· Oversee all aspects of music and production, including sound, lighting, video, and stage design, ensuring all tech and equipment is operational.
· Recruit, develop, and coach volunteer team members across all music and production teams, coordinating with the Next Generation Ministry staff for student and children's music and production teams.
· Schedule teams, coordinate rehearsals, provide music arrangements, and maintain communication with all music and production teams in a manner of enthusiasm, joy, and love.
· Ensure all music and media comply with licensing laws and church policies.
· Maintain a clean, professional, and welcoming environment in worship and production areas.
· Oversee and steward the annual ministry budget in alignment with church goals.
Other Pastoral Duties
· Participate in and lead other church events as assigned (e.g., funerals, weddings, fellowship events).
· Provide pastoral care through home visits, hospital visits, and counseling as needed.
· Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor.
Work Time
This is a full-time position. The Worship Pastor will maintain consistent work hours as agreed upon with the Lead Pastor. The nature of this role requires regular attendance at Sunday services and other church events.
Compensation
The Worship Pastor position is salaried, paid monthly. If ordained, salary may be structured to include a housing allowance.
