Principal Function: The Youth & Associate Pastor is responsible for leading the student ministry and family ministry, as well as overseeing the discipleship ministry of Lebanon Baptist Church.
Supervision: Under the Lord, the Youth & Associate Pastor will be responsible to the Senior Pastor and Personnel Committee regarding overall direction and mission as well as the day-to-day matters related to the carrying out of his ministry. He will also work alongside the other church staff to accomplish the mission of the church.
Ministry Responsibilities:
Pastor: As part of the pastoral team at Lebanon Baptist Church, the Youth & Associate Pastor will§ Help with congregational care including hospitals and shut ins.
§ Preaching once a quarter and as needed or assigned.
§ Assist in ministering to the needs of the entire congregation.
§ Work with Senior Pastor to implement church purpose, mission, and vision.
Students: The primary responsibility of the Youth & Associate Pastor is leading our ministry to students, which includes:§ Under the Pastoral leadership and vision of the church, provide pastoral leadership, oversight, and vision for the student ministry.
§ Plan, lead, and evaluate with the pastor weekly gatherings (Bible studies, worship, small groups, etc).
Serving alongside parents to share the gospel with our students, equip them to walk with the Lord and send them out to share the gospel with others.Recruiting and training volunteers, organizing student discipleship, communicating with student ministry parents and volunteers, and personally teaching the students on Sunday evenings and other designated times.Developing strategies to reach out to students in the local community and establish partnerships and opportunities for ministry outreach.Overseeing our Sunday and Wednesday youth ministry volunteers and discipleship programming.Giving special attention to parents in the church's discipleship efforts to equip them to raise and disciple their youth.Organize and lead camps, retreats, mission trips, and outreach events.Maintain effective communication with parents, keeping them engaged and resourced in discipling their students at home.Substitute in Youth Sunday school if needed.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise volunteers serving in student ministry.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to relate well to church members and families.Background check and Ministry Safe training required (done upon hiring).Work towards living within the Cape Fear High school district community.Perform all duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.Plug into a Sunday school class.
Qualifications:
A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and clear understanding of the Christian faith is essential for this position.Meets biblical qualifications as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.Called by God to pastoral ministry and committed to serving in the local church.A commitment to his personal spiritual growth and or his wife and children.The Associate Pastor for Youth must affirm the Baptist Faith and Message (2000) and be theologically compatible with the pastoral staff.A bachelor's degree or a commitment to complete a degree is preferred for this position.Self-driven; takes initiative in the work.Ability to work in a positive, efficient, effective, and independent manner, as well as in team-based settings. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
Compensation:
The Youth & Associate Pastor will receive an annual salary based on their experience and level of education, continuing education expenses, and a retirement contribution.
