Overview

First Baptist Church Ruidoso is seeking a spiritually mature, biblically grounded believer in Jesus Christ to lead all children (birth – 6th grade) and youth (7th -12th grade) ministries, under the direction of the Senior Pastor.

The ideal candidate should have experience of shepherding children and youth at a similar-sized church. The main purpose of the Youth and Children's Pastor is to invest relationally, leading both youth and children to Christ and helping them to grow in Christ.

The Youth and Children's Pastor would be a leader who develops, oversees, and coordinates the spiritual, education, and ministry programs of both departments. Key paid and volunteer workers in each of these ministries would be under the supervision of the Youth and Children's Pastor.

Requirements

· A humble disciple of Christ who is sensitive to the overall vision of First Baptist Church of Ruidoso. This person will play a vital role in the planning and execution of total church life ministry.

· Education commensurate for the position of a Youth and Children's Pastor.

· A spiritually committed believer in Jesus Christ, modeling a life of integrity, service, and biblical devotion.

· Experience of shepherding children and youth in ministry leadership.

· Relationship builder who invests in and spiritually nurtures children, youth, and their families to grow in their relationship with Christ.

· Excellent interpersonal skills for relating to children, youth, parents, and staff.

· A team player who is willing to do other pastoral duties (i.e. preaching, hospital, and home visits, etc.).

· When possible, attend church staff meetings and retreats.

· One who fully adheres to the Baptist Faith and Message.

· Multiyear experience in leading children and/or youth ministry in a church setting.

· A call to pastoral ministry.

· A lifestyle congruent with biblical requirements for believers

(1 Tim.3:1-13; 2 Tim. 2; Titus 1:5-9).

Responsibilities

· Pray for all FBCR children and youth ministry programs regularly and facilitate a joyful and welcoming presence within both ministries

· Prioritize a ministry of relational presence, recognizing that the local school systems and community are our primary mission field. This will be done by attending community and school events whenever possible.

· Providing appropriate follow-up to first time visitors and absentee children and youth, and by being visibly available within the church and community

· Provide leadership for all ministry programs including but not limited to Sunday School, small group Bible studies, Children's Church, Wednesday night worship, Awana, Bible Drill, seasonal events, retreats, summer camps, and VBS.

· Teach and model spiritual discipline for children and youth through personal spiritual growth, faithful attendance to church worship services/activities, and spiritual tithing.

· Foster a missional mentality among students (children and youth) by educating and providing both local and/or out of area mission opportunities.

· Implement programs to train, engage, and empower children and youth leaders. Provide training resources, spiritual support and encouragement to the adult volunteers working within both children and youth ministries.

· Provide training and encouragement opportunities for parents.

· Ensure clear communication with parents, children, youth, and leaders through available electronic, social, and print media.

· Maintain a safe and secure environment for both children and youth during activities, whether on campus or involvement in off campus sponsored activities.

· Seek opportunities to partner with other local youth pastors for community-wide events and mission work. This would also apply to children's department if such community-wide events are available.

· Develop and efficiently manage an annual children and youth ministry budget that includes anticipated revenue and expenses for each event.
