Position Summary:

The Youth Director will serve in a unique, shared role between Bible Baptist Church of Sodus and Scarlet Thread, dedicating 20 hours per week to each. This position offers the opportunity to disciple teens within the church family while reaching unchurched and at-risk youth in the broader community through a non-profit youth center. The ideal candidate will have a passion for relational ministry, strong organizational skills, and a heart for Gospel-centered outreach and discipleship.

Church Description:

BBC is a vibrant, growing community of believers that come from many surrounding towns. We are a Baptist church (no affiliation) that focuses on the important truths of God's Word, but not on the preferences that so often divide churches. We utilize a blended worship format, welcome people where they are on their spiritual journey, and strive to consistently present God's Word in a relevant manner.

Scarlet Thread Description:

STM is a youth ministry with a mission of sharing the gospel with middle and high school youth. The mission is also focused on connecting these youth with healthy churches. Scarlet Thread's primary tool for connecting with youth is through our afterschool recreation centers.

Qualifications:

• A growing relationship with Jesus Christ and alignment with the theological beliefs of Bible Baptist Church of Sodus and Scarlet Thread Ministries
• Passion for youth ministry and outreach to teens from diverse backgrounds
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Experience working with teens in church or community contexts preferred
• Ability to relate to youth with authenticity, grace and biblical wisdom
• Self-starter with organizational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Bachelor's degree in ministry, youth work, or a related field (preferred but not required)
• Must be able to pass background checks and child protection screenings

Compensation & Benefits:

• Total package valued at $20 an hour
• $27,200 a year
• 3-bedroom apartment in Sodus (utilities included) valued at $14,400 a year
• Ministry-related expenses reimbursed as appropriate

Job Description

Church Responsibilities (20 hours/week):

• Plan and lead weekly youth group meetings (grades 7–12)
• Recruit, train, and shepherd youth ministry volunteers
• Communicate regularly with parents, volunteers, and church leadership (including attending a weekly staff meeting)
• Organize retreats, mission trips, and special events for the youth
• Attend the Teen Sunday School program and teach occasionally
• Disciple teens through one-on-one relationships and being a part of their lives
• Be an active member of BBCS and attend Sunday services regularly

Scarlet Thread Responsibilities (20 hours/week):

• Operate or assist in operating 2 youth centers, site events and administration
• Weekly supervisory meeting for training and task focus
• Support Tasks include attending local Fellowship of Church gatherings, assisting with bounce house rentals (seasonal), clothing drop, basic building repair and maintenance
• Additional responsibilities (depending on skillset) may include social media, office systems, IT and assisting with Artisan Gate Theater operations
