Part-time Youth Minister Job DescriptionPosition Overview:The youth minister is responsible for leading and nurturing the spiritual growth of youth (7th-12thgrade) within the church community. This role involves planning, developing, and implementingprograms that foster faith, leadership, and community engagement while creating a safe,welcoming, and inclusive environment for all youth.Church Overview:Beech Street Baptist Church, located in Gurdon, Arkansas, is a welcoming community dedicatedto fostering spiritual growth and connection among its members. Our mission is to serve God andour congregation by engaging families and youth in meaningful worship and activities. We striveto build a supportive environment for our younger generations to explore their faith and developa strong sense of community.Key Responsibilities:1. Program Development and Leadership:o Plan, organize, and lead youth group meetings, Bible studies, and special events.o Develop and implement a balanced youth ministry program that includes worship,discipleship, fellowship, service, and outreach.o Stay informed about trends in youth culture and ministry to ensure programsremain relevant and impactful.2. Mentorship and Spiritual Guidance:o Build meaningful relationships with youth, providing mentorship, encouragement,and spiritual guidance.o Be available to counsel youth and their families on spiritual and personal matters.o Encourage youth to actively participate in the life of the church, includingworship services and volunteer opportunities.3. Community Engagement:o Foster a sense of community among youth by organizing retreats, mission trips,and service projects.o Collaborate with parents, church staff, and other ministries to ensure alignmentwith the church's mission and vision.o Act as a liaison between the church and local schools or community organizationsto expand outreach opportunities.4. Administrative Duties:o Manage the youth ministry budget and resources effectively.o Maintain clear communication with parents, youth, and church leadership throughchurch bulletin, social media, and other platforms.o Ensure all activities comply with church policies, including safety and childprotection guidelines.Qualifications:o A strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to living out Christianvalues.o Experience working with youth in a ministry or similar setting.o Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.o Ability to inspire and connect with youth from diverse backgrounds.o Familiarity with technology and social media as tools for ministry is a plus.o In accordance with our church's Child Protection Policy, candidates selected for furtherconsideration will be required to complete a background check, provided by the church atno cost.Job Duties:o This position requires flexibility, including evening and weekend availability for youthevents, retreats, and church services.o The youth minister will work closely with church leadership and report to the SeniorPastor or designated supervisor.o Hold regular meetings with the youth committee (at least quarterly) to discuss plans andinitiatives.o Teach youth during Sunday school and Wednesday night services (year-round), andAWANA program. Must have a responsible substitute in the event you are absent.o Select and organize literature for Wednesday night classes to enhance learning.o Plan, direct, and schedule youth activities regularly, preferably monthly and at leastquarterly.o Assist with Vacation Bible School (VBS)o Manage the annual budget request for youth programs, maintaining detailed records of allfinances related to youth trips and activities.o Communicate with parents, youth, and church members about upcoming events andactivities for the youth groupo Provide an update of all aspects of the youth ministry program to the church body atmonthly business meetings.
