Position Summary
The Youth Minister will serve under the direction of the Senior Pastor, leading and coordinating the student ministry of First Baptist Church Wake Village (grades 6–12), offering a meaningful opportunity to shape young lives and foster spiritual growth.
The purpose of the ministry is to equip and assist students to grow as followers of Jesus Christ through faithful teaching of Scripture, intentional discipleship, meaningful relationships, and participation in the life of the church.
The Youth Minister will cultivate a ministry environment where students enjoy fellowship and shared experiences together, while ensuring that all activities—whether weekly gatherings, camps, retreats, or events—serve the greater purpose of spiritual growth and discipleship.

Core Responsibilities
1. Biblical Teaching and Discipleship
The Youth Minister will lead regular student gatherings and Bible studies that are rooted in Scripture and centered on the gospel.
This includes:
Preparing and teaching biblically faithful lessons for youth gatherings.Leading small group discussions and discipleship conversations.Encouraging students toward habits of prayer, Scripture reading, and obedience to Christ.Helping students think through cultural and personal challenges from a biblical perspective.The goal is to help students develop a growing understanding of God's Word and a sincere faith in Christ.

2. Building Relationships with Students
Effective youth ministry happens through consistent relationships, and one's ability to connect with students will be central to their spiritual journey.
The Youth Minister will:
Invest time in getting to know students and encouraging their spiritual growth.Maintain a visible presence in the lives of students through church activities and other community events.Provide encouragement and guidance as students navigate spiritual and personal challenges.—
3. Supporting Parents
Parents are the primary ones to disciple their children, and the youth ministry exists to support and reinforce that role.
The Youth Minister will:
Communicate regularly with parents about ministry activities and spiritual goals.Encourage families in their efforts to disciple their children by offering training resources, classes, and encouragement.Be an available resource to parents seeking guidance for their teenagers.—
4. Volunteer Leadership Development
The Youth Minister will recruit and equip volunteer leaders who assist with student ministry.
Responsibilities include:
Identifying and inviting mature church members to serve with students.Providing training and encouragement for volunteers.Ensuring that volunteers model Christian character and support the discipleship goals of the ministry.Maintaining security policies for required youth protection training and background checks.—
5. Planning Youth Activities
The Youth Minister will coordinate youth events and activities, including Sunday mornings, Wednesday nights, camps, retreats, fellowships, service opportunities, and gospel outreach.
These activities should provide opportunities for students to build friendships, enjoy fellowship, and experience the joy of Christian community while reinforcing the ministry's spiritual aims.
Fun and fellowship are important elements of youth ministry, but every activity should ultimately serve the larger goal of helping students grow in their faith and connection to the church.

6. Integration into the Life of the Church
• Student ministry should foster strong relationships between the youth and the broader church family to promote intergenerational discipleship.
• The Youth Minister should collaborate closely with the Senior Pastor, Children's coordinator, and staff to integrate the youth ministry into the overall mission and strategy of the church.
The Youth Minister will encourage students to:
Participate in corporate worship musically, assisting with the sound board, or 5th Sunday youth worship programs.Serve in church ministries (basketball outreach, VBS, other children and adult programs).Develop a growing sense of belonging within the church family.—
Character and Qualifications
The Youth Minister should demonstrate a consistent Christian life marked by humility, integrity, and a sincere love for Christ and His church.
The individual should:
Have a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a growing relationship with Him.Possess a clear calling for ministry to youth and parents.Joyfully affirm the church's Statement of Faith and theological convictions.Show a heart for discipling students and encouraging their growth in Christ.Possess the ability to communicate biblical truth clearly to teenagers.Demonstrate maturity, reliability, and a cooperative spirit in working with church leadership and volunteers.Possess strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.Possess a teachable heart, a love for God's word, and a constant desire to grow in wisdom and knowledge of God through reading and other educational opportunities.Possess spiritual consistency and moral character as described in 1 Timothy 3:1–7.If married, he has the full support of his wife in his ministry. —
Accountability
The Youth Minister serves under the leadership of the Senior Pastor and in cooperation with church staff and appropriate committees.The Youth Minister should provide the church with regular updates regarding student activities, ministry goals, and opportunities for further participation. Develop and manage the youth ministry budget and prepare to present it to the finance committee annually. —
The Aim of the Ministry
The aim of student ministry at First Baptist Church Wake Village is to help students know Christ, understand His Word, and grow into faithful members of His church.
Through teaching, discipleship, fellowship, and shared experiences, the youth ministry seeks to cultivate young men and women who follow Jesus with conviction and carry their faith into adulthood.
