Youth Pastor

Job Overview

The Youth Pastor is responsible for shepherding the middle school and high school students of Living Message Church in accordance with the Word of God. We have a Reformed Theology but are a non-denominational Church (Westminster Confession, 1689 Baptist Confession, 1853 New Hampshire Confession). This role exists to disciple youth, support parents in their God-given role, and integrate students into the full life of the church through worship, teaching, service, and community.

Job Description

Discipleship & Teaching

  • Teach Scripture faithfully and clearly to youth, grounded in solid Biblical theology.
  • Develop and lead regular youth gatherings (Sunday's, youth group, small groups, retreats).
  • Encourage spiritual disciplines such as prayer, and Bible reading.

Pastoral Care

  • Provide pastoral care and spiritual guidance to students.
  • Build intentional relationships with youth and their families.
  • Pray regularly for students and be present during significant life events.

Family Partnership

  • Support and equip parents as the primary ones discipling their children.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding teaching themes, events, and spiritual growth.
  • Encourage intergenerational relationships within the church.

Leadership & Administration

  • Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteer youth leaders.
  • Plan and oversee youth ministry calendar, events, and budget.
  • Ensure all youth activities comply with church policies and child safety guidelines.

Church Integration

  • Help students meaningfully participate in corporate worship and congregational life.
  • Encourage service within the church and broader community.
  • Collaborate with church staff and leadership to support the mission of the church.

Weekly Workflow

  • Sundays: 8:30 to 12:30 (4 Hours) Sunday's: attending both services and talking with youth and parents. Speak to new kids and families about the Youth Ministry, before and after services.
  • Thursdays (3 Hours): Youth Group Meeting at 7pm. Setting up, putting on music, setting up game stations, teaching and breaking down.
  • During The Week (10 to 12 Hours): follow-up calls to youth, planning activities, studying and preparing messages and visiting the local high school or middle school, attending student events (games, graduations, concerts).
