Youth Pastor – Part Time

Shadow Mountain Church is prayerfully seeking a youth pastor to lead the youth of our church with an emphasis on Biblically-sound teaching, outreach, discipleship, fellowship, and prayer.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and implement a comprehensive youth ministry program that meets the spiritual needs of our students• Recruit, train, and provide guidance to student ministry volunteers and leaders• Build relationships with parents and families to create a supportive and cohesive community• Maintain an active presence in local middle and high schools (as allowed), with periodic campus visits to engage students at school• Create a welcoming environment that encourages students to grow in their relationship with Christ and with one another• Teach students the Word of God in a way that is engaging and relevant to them• Gauge the spiritual maturity of each student and disciple them at their level to become lifelong disciples of Christ• Assist the senior pastor in making youth ministry a vital function of the overall church, not just a silo for students• Develop and implement follow-up plans for new students and for students and adult volunteers who become inactive• Incorporate youth into various church ministries and service projects

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Meet the Biblical requirements for a pastor/elder (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, 1 Peter 5:2-3)• Model a deep and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ• Maintain a humble and teachable spirit• Have a heart for youth outreach and evangelism• Bachelor's degree in divinity, theology, Christian education, or similar• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, elders, volunteers, and parents• Possess strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills• Demonstrable record of productive youth ministry• Agreement with Shadow Mountain Church's statement of faith• Understanding and alignment with the Baptist Faith & Message 2000 and practices• Biblical worldview

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of three years experience in youth ministry on a church staff• Seminary degree• Married or engaged to a woman who is supportive of his ministerial calling and commitment and also shares his love for youth

For over 50 years, Shadow Mountain Church of Gardnerville, Nevada has been on a mission to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to our community and beyond. We are a Bible-centered church with an average Sunday attendance of 150 to 200. We meet in a modern, yet traditional-looking, debt-free 9000 square foot church building on six acres facing the towering Sierra Nevada mountain range. We are located in a rural agricultural community less than an hour from Reno and 25 minutes from year-round recreational activities at Lake Tahoe.
