Job Title: Youth Pastor/Youth Director

Position Type: Part Time

Hours and Salary: 15-20 hrs. per week; approximately $26,000.

First Baptist Church of Waldo is a Southern Baptist Church located in the beautiful town of Waldo, FL. Our Sunday morning worship service's average weekly attendance is about 130 people. We have a contemporary worship team that sings both hymns and modern worship music. We are a very loving and welcoming church family with a growing focus on outreach to the communities. God has been blessing our church as we have been growing and experiencing positive changes, including the launch of an AWANA children's ministry this year! Our church is located 15 minutes away from the city of Gainesville, home to the University of Florida. Stunning coastal and gulf beaches are located within an 80-mile radius. Qualifications:

a. Professional:

– Agrees with and affirms the doctrine of the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 (found online: https://bfm.sbc.net/bfm2000), and the doctrine of First Baptist Church of Waldo.

– At least two years of leading a church teen/youth ministry

– At least some formal biblical or church ministries education (preferred)

b. Personal

– Has a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ, evidenced by lifestyle and character.

– Good at developing safe relationships with children, teens, parents, and leaders.

– Able to relate well to teenagers and teach them in a way that engages their attention and participation at their level.

– Encourages and supports parents for a family approach to ministry.

– Able to recruit youth leaders and foster team-based leadership.

– Able to counsel parents or teens in times of conflict, trouble, or crisis.

– Committed to outreach and a growing youth ministry.

– Committed to facilitating an active and thriving youth ministry.

– Can clearly promote all ministry and event details to the parents and the church in a timely manner, through social media, texts, email, and other forms of communication.

– Self-starter.

– Teachable.

– Respectable.

– Administrative.

Duties:

a. Weekly:

– Lead the Wednesday Night Youth Group Ministry (6th-12th grade)

– Teach the Sunday Morning Teen Sunday School Class

b. Additional:

– Plans and leads at least one special event per month (should be a mix of simple and comprehensive events, and a mix of fellowship, outreach, serving, and discipleship events throughout the year).

– Staff meeting with the Sr. Pastor at least one time per month.

– Occasionally participates in the children's ministry (i.e., AWANA, VBS, Jr. Church, etc.) to make connections with children (and their parents) who are approaching youth group age.

– Actively participates in the Sunday morning worship service and assists with other weekly ministry responsibilities as delegated by the Sr. Pastor.
