Westminster Job Board: Seminary Placement & Reformed Jobs
How Westminster handles placement for its graduates, and where else confessionally Reformed openings appear.
Two distinct institutions carry the Westminster name, and candidates searching for a "Westminster job board" are sometimes looking for one and finding the other. Westminster Theological Seminary (WTS) is in Glenside, Pennsylvania, founded in 1929 when J. Gresham Machen and colleagues left Princeton. Westminster Seminary California (WSC) in Escondido is a separate institution. Both are confessionally Reformed and committed to the Westminster Standards, and both send graduates into OPC, PCA and other Reformed and Presbyterian churches — but they are not the same school and their placement services are separate.
Does Westminster have a job board?
Both seminaries maintain career and placement services that connect churches with their students and graduates. As is typical of seminary placement offices, these are oriented toward the institution's own community rather than functioning as public job boards open to all comers.
What that means in practice:
- If you are a Westminster student or alum, go directly to your seminary's placement office. Churches that approach a seminary are already looking for that formation, and the candidate pool is small. This is the strongest channel you have.
- If you are not affiliated, you likely cannot access those listings, and your time is better spent on denominational channels and public boards.
- If you are a church searching, contacting the seminary gives you candidates with a known confessional grounding — a smaller pool, but a pre-filtered one.
Confirm current arrangements with the schools directly — wts.edu and wscal.edu — since placement programs change.
Where Reformed and Presbyterian openings appear
- Presbytery and classis channels. For ordained roles in the OPC, PCA or URCNA, the regional body is usually where an opening surfaces first. See our guide to the PCA job board.
- Other Reformed seminaries. Covenant, RTS, Puritan Reformed and Mid-America all run placement services. Our full list of Reformed seminary job boards covers them, and we have a dedicated guide to the RTS job board.
- Adjacent networks. Many confessionally Reformed churches also post to The Gospel Coalition or Acts 29.
- Confessional job boards. An aggregator saves you checking each seminary and presbytery separately every week. Our comparison of church job boards lays out the trade-offs.
What these search committees look for
- Subscription to the Westminster Standards, with any exceptions stated plainly and defensibly.
- Ordination standing in the relevant body, or a clear path to it by transfer or examination.
- Preaching. Reformed congregations weigh this heavily; have recent audio available.
- Facility with the confessional tradition, not merely agreement with its conclusions.
